News and Updates

Well it was a major disappointment that earlier’s localization rumor turned out to be a hoax, but hopefully some new Final Fantasy Type-0 screenshots can cheer you all up. Famitsu has posted nineteen new screenshots including a couple of new subcharacters Lean and Tiz. They also include the full worldmap for you to pore over.

UPDATE: It was a hoax. Someone photoshopped it and claimed he just deleted it. Never trust anyone.

It’s a good thing voice actors can’t keep their mouths shut. Steve Blum, voice actor behind pretty much everything, has posted on his Twitter claiming that he just started voicing King “for a new Final Fantasy”. This could be the first confirmation that Final Fantasy Type-0 will be receiving an international release. He has since deleted the Tweet in an attempt to cover it up but it’s far too late now.

The only thing left is Square Enix to announce their plans which should hopefully happen soon.

Famitsu: First Final Fantasy Type-0 Review Out

The first review for Final Fantasy Type-0 has been released, and unsurprisingly, Famitsu are the first out of the gate with it. The four reviewers gave the game 10, 9, 10 and 10 respectively, giving the game a total score of 39/40. This is the same score FFXIII attained from Famitsu.

Update: Here are the scans:

A Final Fantasy Type-0 trailer supplied with the limited edition version of Bump of Chickens “Zero” single has made it’s way online. The seven minute trailer mainly consists of cutscenes with quite a bit of new footage. This is possibly the last trailer we’ll get to see, so let’s hope it can tide you over until the games release. If it just isn’t enough for you, a 10 minute version of the promo video is available on Nico Nico which includes a three and a half minute long cutscene at the end. Enjoy!

Final Fantasy Type-0 Theme “Zero” Released

The theme song for Final Fantasy Type-0 has been leaked a day early. Zero by Bump of Chicken was due to go on sale on the 19th but the single has managed to make it’s way online to the masses, earlier than expected. It’s certainly not the greatest Final Fantasy theme song but for those of you so inclined, listen to the track thanks to the power of Youtube, below.

Two new subcharacters shown in the extended TGS Final Fantasy Type-0 trailer have made their way into Jump this week. Emina and Kazusa, who make a very brief appearance in the trailer can be seen in their official artwork and a couple of screenshots in the single page article. See the scan below.

The full 12 minutes of Final Fantasy Type-0 gameplay from yesterdays Nico Nico stream has been officially released by Square Enix. There’s a lot to take in, including possibly the most terrifying Malboro in Final Fantasy history.

As well as the new gameplay, the Final Fantasy Type-0 Soundtrack site has been updated once again with 5 new previews to go with the 8 they added last week. A fully translated track list is now available to thanks to Lucas Drealeu from KHinsider. Click more to see the track list in full.

Hajime Tabata has blessed Nico Nico users with a live stream of some new Final Fantasy Type-0 gameplay. The gameplay includes regular battles plus traversing the world with a Chocobo, the the RTS style Battle for Supremacy, and Airship battles. The quality may not be great but Tabata is quizzed about certain elements of the game during the stream which more than makes up for it. GameFAQ members Flower Girl and Kouli have translated the interview.

Is it hard because it’s action oriented?
Compulsory gamplay up to the ending is of low difficulty. Please don’t panic.
It does not entirely come off as an action game since there are RPG commands you have to use to clear the game. Characters still depend on level as in RPGs for battles.

Is it alright to play this if I never played FF before?
You can play this without any problems even if you have never played FF before.
This shares the same mythology as FF13 though so players who played FF13 might feel familiar.

How much is the approximate gameplay volume.
It’s run through would be around 40 hours but it is impossible to clear everything in a single run through. (i’m not sure about this part but it goes) There’s an additional fight in the 2nd play through which completes the game but that does not mean players cannot enjoy the world after everything is done.

Will there be DLC?
[None they will charge for anyway. However he does reveal that there will be free DLC available if you link the game to your Square Enix Members account]

See part of the stream uploaded to Youtube below.

Thanks to forum member Iron Maw for finding this.

Hajime Tabata has been interview by Square-Enix’s own Gangan Comic Magazine, in which he gives a few brief new details on Final Fantasy Type-0. The interview reveals that they’re still keeping their cards close to their chest, even though there’s only two weeks until the games release.

The first thing Tabata announces is that the game should take approximately 40 hours to complete during our first run. A fairly respectable length, especially for a portable title considering FFXIII was 50 hours in length. Interestingly, Tabata also says we’ll be able to experience a different story surrounding Class 0 during our second play through. He doesn’t go into any detail about what we can expect.

Other than this, Tabata also says we can expect a thirteenth main character to go with the twelve announced so far. It looks like we might have to wait until the games release to see who it could be.
