Well here’s a surprise for everyone. IGN has seemingly fumbled and released a brand new Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer early. The “Quest for Lightning” trailer appeared on IGN earlier this evening but was quickly removed. Evidently, it wasn’t removed quick enough as it’s been uploaded by various Youtube users. The trailer was apparently due for release on the first day of PAX, which is beginning tomorrow, but IGN have accidentally broken the embargo.
The surprise trailer features a huge amount of new footage that certainly is refreshing. A new character may even be featured but it’s best to see for yourself.
The Tokyo Game Show is slowly creeping up, but today it was announced that a Final Fantasy XIII-2 Special would be airing on TV during the first day of the event. The half an hour special, announced on the BS11 website, is said to contain a never before seen trailer as well as special guest appearances. It will be airing on BS11 at 8:00 to 8:30pm Tokyo time on the 15th September.
As promised, Square has released a bunch of new Final Fantasy XIII-2 screenshots today. With them comes a render of the new Serah artwork released yesterday, as well as a mashup of the previous two XIII-2 trailers, featuring narration from Kitase and Toriyama.
The screenshots feature a new area known as Yaschas Massif, a location near where Hope received Alexander on Gran Pulse. The ruins themselves are of Paddra, what was once one of the largest cities on Pulse. The city is filled with soldiers and scientists searching for something.
To go with the earlier release date announcement, Square Enix has released a brand new Final Fantasy Type-0 trailer on their official Youtube channel. The trailer spans 5 minutes and reveals for the first time many of the characters described in magazine articles. If you haven’t felt the card theme attributed to them yet, you certainly will after watching this trailer.
While Square Enix released a mini teaser trailer for Final Fantasy XIII-2 last week, now E3 is in full swing, they’ve finally released the full version for us to pore over. The trailer includes new gameplay from Serah and Noel as well as Lightning wielding her summon Odin. Several of the games mechanics have been altered and added to including the addition of Quick time events. Despite her earlier appearance in the trailer, when Team NORA rescues Serah near the end of the trailer, Lebreau assumes Lightning is dead.
The trailer also reveals a newly revised “Winter 2012″ release. Watch the full English trailer below.
Like the Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer, the Final Fantasy Type-0 trailer has also been officially released in High Definition today. Enjoy the trailer below without any distortion or sound issues like the previous.

The English version ends with “Coming Next Winter” so the potential for an early 2012 release seems likely. With the release of the trailer comes the launch of the North American official game site and if you hadn’t already noticed, the launch of the European site at a familiar domain.
