Just a general reminder to everyone, Square Enix’s competition to vote of one of the Serah Costumes designed by Yuko Oshima will be ending in three days! So if you haven’t got your vote in or you want to go cheat a few votes in for Costume B then get to it!
Currently, the votes sit hugely in favour of Costume A, with 14419 votes, towering over Costume B which is at 9582.
True to Game Stop’s tendency to give Power Up Rewards members extra bonuses for pre-ordering specific games, the company and Square Enix announced today that Power Up Rewards members will receive an additional in-game weapon.
This weapon, called the Genji Bow, will allow for more frequent attacks and, like the rest of Serah’s weapons for the game, will include both a blade and bow form. However, Power Up Rewards members must pick up the game by February 2, 2011 in order to receive the extra weapon.
Check it out below, and tell us what you think in the forum thread!
Special thanks to Yahtzee for discovering the info!
The website to vote for your favourite of the two costumes for Serah that AKB48 member Yuko Oshima designed has opened earlier today.
For any non-Japanese speakers, all you have to do to vote is to click on the big button next to the picture with A or B in it. The two buttons in the top left on each costume are the Original Sketch, and the Proper Design.
Currently leading the vote is the rather stylish Military Suit, leading over Red Riding Hood by 2299 to 1591. The voting will be open until the 3rd of December.
Also an extra minor note, but Ms. Oshima will most likely be cosplaying the winning costume at the XIII-2 Launch Event.
Much like with Final Fantasy XIII and its “Episode Zero -Promise-” and “-Episode i-” novella counterparts, Square Enix has announced two new books for Final Fantasy XIII-2.
The first will be a post card book, and will contain CG illustrations of the main characters of the game, such as Serah, Noel, Snow, and Lightning, and an eight page character introduction. It will also come with a collection of 24 post cards.
The second and more important book that will be released will be titled “Final Fantasy XIII-2: Fragments Before”, and will focus on the events that took place before those in the game itself. It will also be written by Jun Eishima, the author of the Final Fantasy XIII novellas. This novel will again focus on the different stories of the main characters and will, interestingly enough, also include Rygdea and Bartholomew Estheim from Final Fantasy XIII. Below is a list of the different chapters for each character, as stated in the Nova Crystallis blog post:
Serah: Memories of the year AF0.
New Bodhum: A story of the year AF3.
Snow: The story of his departure.
Rygdea & Bartholomew: The creation of a provisional government, and the secret history of the founding of the Academy.
Noel: The end of the world, a period of uncertainty.
Both books will be available on December 31st, the day Final Fantasy XIII-2 is released in Japan.

The first pictures of Serah’s pre-order weapon have been released by Square Enix, with a few details about it. The angels bow drains HP from enemies as previously revealed, but it turns out the weapon will actually be available in the game without the need of a download code. The only difference is the weapon will be in a different colour. If this is true, it does bring into question the entire point of it.

Square announced earlier this month that we’d be receiving plenty of DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2. Today they’ve actually detailed some of what we’ll be getting, pre-release anyway.
For pre-ordering the game at Lawson’s or HMV in Japan, customers will receive a download code for a bonus weapon for Serah. The weapon itself is described as an angels bow which drains the damage it causes and converts it into HP for Serah. An image of the new weapon will be released in the future. It’s fairly likely the same DLC will be available as pre-order bonuses in other countries as well.
A second piece of pre-release DLC will be coming with the limited edition version of the games official PS3 theme, Yakusoku no Basho. The CD will include another download code which can be traded for some special bonus accessories. The set named “Gift from the Songstress” will include Diva Mic and Diva Headphones. Whether they actually do anything is yet to be confirmed. The CD will be out on November 23rd and the code can be used on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game but whether the Charice version of the song, New World, will include it hasn’t been announced.

The latest issue of V-Jump has been released with a small preview of Final Fantasy XIII-2. Unfortunately, most of the information has already been revealed so there isn’t anything new except for the picture of Serah. See it below.
