That’s right, folks! The people over at Square Enix have decided that now is the time to provide a brief description about one of the new characters that will be appearing in the upcoming Lightning Returns. According to the translation provided, it states that this new character will be named “Lumina”, and is described as being a loli-goth version of Serah, Lightning’s sister who we all know and (sometimes) love. Lumina will either help or hinder Lightning throughout her journey (ooh, suspense!); other than that, no further details have come to light as of yet. As always, however, we will keep you updated!
In addition, some of the costumes that Lightning will be able to wear have been further described. “Dark Muse” is the official name for the costume she wears in the Jump Festa trailer, and has a grill-shaped shield, chaps, and some kind of camouflage overcoat. “Alone in the Dust” is the name of the costume that has very samurai-esque features.
Update: And here’s a scan showing off this “new” character.

Today is a good day for all you patient Lightning Returns fans out there. The murky scan that revealed Lightning’s new look has finally gotten a higher quality and complete version, revealing several key screenshots! We can see several instances of Lightning traversing her environment, shots of the lovely city of light, even shots of the promised stealth elements! If you’re attentive, you might even spot a familiar face in the top-left screen.
On top of that, we seem to have our first official look at the game’s combat! Apparently Lightning won’t just be grappling with the new forces of Chaos, but with classic foes such as the behemoth seen in the scan. Now that we’ve had our first taste, it’s only a short while now before Jump Festa and the premiere of the Lightning Returns trailer to the general public. Stay tuned!

Another feature has leaked out of the latest issue of Famitsu, this time about Final Fantasy Type-0. Two scans are available, depicting new characters and showing off a few new screenshots. Here’s a summary of what’s being said. Some of these characters were featured in the demo.
Aria – A subordinate of Class Zero who is responsible for selling items. She’s apparently quiet and obedient but can change.
Naghi – A student at the academy that sees himself as something of an idol. He’s known for being aloof and is a member of the Intelligence Club.
Carla – A student who is popular among the faculty because of her good grades. Similarly to Aria, she sells items but she also sells information. However, she’s known for requesting extortionate prices for the services she provides Class Zero.
Enkidu – Another Gelbu l’Cie who shares a childhood with Gilgamesh. He’s appeared alongside Gilgamesh in previous titles.
Diabolos (Diablos) – A war god which looks like a demon with the ability to absorb the HP of his enemies. His special ability is Gravity Sphere which will draw in enemies and when charged by the player, create a larger sphere. When being charged it will absorb the HP of anything in it’s path, including friends.
Battle for Supremacy
A minigame featured on the world map. The game involves moving troops around and capturing areas in an RTS styled manner. Different troops have different strong points e.g. specialized against machines. Special missions give you encampments to control and more troops to take charge of.
Dog Fighting
The airship you control has machine guns installed on it. This means you can take on mounted dragons controlled by Concordia in dog fights. There are various kinds of dragons, including larger ones used by the Royal Guard. You also fight them on the deck.
Arena
Simulation Battles – You can progress through 20 rounds of fighting to level up your characters and get them Phantoma. You still keep the experience if you die part way through.
Secret Training – A character can be selected to be trained while your PSP is in sleep mode. Details are unclear.
Jump’s latest issue has a page feature on Final Fantasy Type-0, this time revealing the inclusion of Diablos as a summon and two new l’cie. Nimbus (right), dubbed a “cyborg” l’cie from the Byakko Crystal is silent and enigmatic who has fought many rival l’Cie in the past. Setsuna (left) is from the Suzaku Crystal and is apparently the most senior l’cie. She’s a skilled summon magic user who can summon 1000 beasts at once.
Thanks to Casker from GameFAQs for the translations and Iron Maw for the scan.
