Square Enix have posted a huge Final Fantasy XIII-2 video on their official Japanese Youtube channel, featuring tons of new gameplay and interviews with the developers. The 18 minute video has us following around some guy (no idea who) test playing FFXIII-2 for the first 8 minutes and speaking to the developers for most of the rest. Watch below to see new gameplay and the horrifying Chocobo lady.
Square Enix has released a whole bunch of new goodies to make us excited about the upcoming release of Final Fantasy XIII-2; namely, eight new beautiful screenshots and a video that provides an in-depth tour into the newest addition to the Final Fantasy franchise. Check ‘em out below, and be sure to post your thoughts and opinions in the forums!
A special thanks to Ramenzilla for finding the info!
You may recall recently that there was an event in which S-E bigwigs answered several lingering questions about Type-0 and XIII-2. It seems that one more gem has emerged from the event, and that is a Q&A session in which producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed that DLC will not only give us costumes and the monster Omega, but will also give us more story after the release of the game! No specifics were given, other than coy instruction to keep your eyes peeled after XIII-2 is released.
Big thanks to forum member Musou for finding this. As always, head down to the forums to discuss.
Ah, the game’s release is just around the corner! Well, in Japan but anyways Square Enix released 2 new commercials for the PS3 and Xbox showing a few new scenes (spoilers are present, of course), gameplay, and, well, just go on and watch both of them below!
Final Fantasy XIII-2 was featured in NicoNico, showing off gameplay from a finished version of the game. The characters can be seen in Bresha Ruins, the same featured location in the E3 demo only this time in a different time period. The whole video is in Japanese but it’s worth to have a look, so watch it below!
Paddra Nsu-Yeul, the mysterious girl seen in trailers tagging along with Caius, will be featured in this week’s Jump. Have a look at the page below (we’ll be updating this post once a higher quality scan of the page surfaces) which possibly contains new details regarding her and other stuff. Stay tuned and head over to the forums for discussion and updates!
Update: A clearer version has surfaced, but not a HQ one. We’ll be updating this again once a HQ version comes out!
Finally, sample tracks from the last disc of the soundtrack has been released today. It is probably the last batch of sample tracks they’ll be releasing since the soundtrack’s release date is just around the corner (5 days left!). Procede to the official site of the soundtrack and enjoy listening to the latest sample tracks!
Lastly, Square Enix has released a promotion video for the soundtrack, showing some comments made by the main composers, Masashi Hamauzu, Naoshi Mizuta, and Mitsuto Suzuki. Unfortunately the whole video is in Japanese; Nevertheless, if you’re that interested, watch the video provided below!
Famitsu has released its latest issue, and it included the review for Final Fantasy XIII-2. Unlike it’s predecessor XIII and cousin Type-0, XIII-2 recieved the coveted Famitsu 40/40.
This is the third 40/40 this year, the others going to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The only other Final Fantasy title to receive 40/40 was Final Fantasy XII.
Square Enix has released two brand new videos for Final Fantasy XIII-2; these videos contain information about the Historia Crux, gameplay, and even an interview / promotional description with Yoshinori Kitase and Motomu Toriyama. I could tell you all about it, but it’d probably be more enjoyable if you just check it out below!
Thanks to Musou for finding the videos!
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is collaborating with two different companies for promotions in Japan.
First up is an interesting one. Xylish, a chewing gum brand, are providing a special promotion using Augmented Reality. Using an App you can get on iOS or Android, scanning the top of the chewing gum wrapper will present you with a 3D model of Lightning standing on it.
Buying Xylish at specific retailers will net you some cards of other characters, which when scanned will show you those characters. You can get to the website for this here.
The other is with Microsoft, and Internet Explorer 9. You can access the website for this here. The website just has some general info about XIII-2, and a minigame where you use a Moogle to catch Tweets (you’ll need a Twitter account to play). You don’t actually need IE9 to access the website, as long as you’re using an up-to-date browser.
