While purchasing the Japanese PS3 theme may get you special DLC in December, the international theme by Charice has the benefit of being released months in advance! New World, which is the Xbox 360 and international PS3 theme for Final Fantasy XIII-2, was released as a single on iTunes last week and now it’s made it’s way online for us to preview.
The single is a part of Charice’s new album entitled Infinity which will be released on October 5th. To listen to the song, download it off iTunes or listen to it in the video below.

Famitsu is reporting that although the PS3 Final Fantasy XIII-2 trailer was released earlier, we have more instore for us in the form of a slightly different Xbox 360 trailer coming soon. The first difference is that the 360 trailer will use the second theme song by Charice announced earlier rather than the one we saw earlier by Mai Fukui.
Other than that, the trailer features the same battle sequences but with alternative cutscenes. In these cutscenes, the purple haired man (now confirmed to be named Kaias) and the newly revealed masked girl (named Yuru) are shown meeting with Serah and her friends. It is revealed that Kaias is apparently unable to die. Famitsu predicts the game will have themes relating to the creation or correction of time paradox’s due several phrases used in the dialog. They predict Noel and Serah will travel between time periods throughout the game. Towns people are shown in the trailer transforming into Cie’th just like in the first game. Speaking about this, Lightning says “This is a future that I was not able to protect”. The trailer ends with Kaias “doing something to a fallen Noel” but Famitsu don’t give any more details.
The new Xbox 360 trailer will likely be released very soon.

Take a good look at these girls because here are your Final Fantasy XIII-2 Theme Song Singers.
Mai Fukui (right) and Charice Pempengko (or known simply as just “Charice”) will each be singing a different theme song. Mai Fukui will be singing “Yakusoku no Basho” which roughly translates to “Promised Land” (The title in Japanese is 約束の場所). Charice however will be singing a song called “New World”.
This time around the theme songs will depend on location and platform. “Yakusoku no Basho” will apparently be featured on the Japanese PS3 version of the game (Japanese Xbox 360 get “New World”), along with select parts of Asia also on PS3. “New World” will be used as the theme song everywhere else both on PS3 and Xbox 360.
An interesting choice but Square Enix surely has its reasons for doing so.
