Square Enix has announced a new game in the Final Fantasy XIII series at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event, bringing Lightnings story to an end.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is out! With it comes a final trailer which neatly compresses all the good bits of FFXIII-2 into one minute.
The long wait is over. We've finished our review copy and had a great time, so come read our impressions of Final Fantasy XIII-2.
That’s right, the Lightning DLC has finally been given a name. “Requiem of the Goddess” will feature Caius and Lightning locked in battle. Reportedly, the DLC will feature a different sort of combat than what we’ve come to expect in XIII-2. What this alludes to remains to be seen; given Lightning’s status as a servant of the goddess and the power that entails, it’s not surprising that we can expect something a bit different. If you’re feeling the strain of that wait, don’t worry. It’s very likely we’ll be hearing a great deal more about this DLC very soon. In the meantime, head on down to the forums to discuss.

Famitsu has finally revealed a few screenshots regarding Final Fantasy XIII-2′s upcoming costume and monster DLCs.
The N7 armours for Noel and Serah will be available on the PS3 and Xbox360, priced ¥300 and 240MSP.
Old Final Fantasy fans will also be delighted to see the inclusion of Final Fantasy VI monsters Ultros and Typhon. Similar to the Lightning and Amodar DLC, players will fight Ultros first and will then be joined by Typhon later in the fight. This monster DLC pack is priced ¥400 on PS3 and 320MSP on Xbox 360.
Both DLC packs will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on the 27th of March.
Updated: Now with more screens!
This week’s Famitsu has some interesting comments from Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura regarding the game’s progress.
According to him, he has some news on the project and is almost ready to reveal a lot of info for us (finally) – but some some “totally unrelated” reasons, he can’t. He’s also not allowed to talk about the situation stopping him, and all he can do is “continue discussions” – with who, it isn’t said.
Is he being pushed for Multi-Plat maybe? Or do Square want Versus on the down-low to stay out of the spotlight for another game? Maybe it’s being cancelled after all these many years. Who knows? Hopefully, we’ll know very soon. Until then, we’ll have to keep waiting for our next Versus XIII update.
You can discuss the lack of news in our forums here.
Nothing important to us (due to the lack of both Type-0 and UMD Passport outside Japan), but for the people it does apply to, Final Fantasy Type-0 is now available through Sony’s UMD Passport program for the Playstation Vita.
Obviously, the UMD Passport will give you the full game through the one file, as available on the Playstation Network. However, if you’ve been playing the UMD version and have the separate save files used on the two disk Physical Version, I can’t guarantee your saves will cross over properly for the Digital Version. So if anyone can test that out, please do let us know.
As previously announced, Jihl Nabaat is scheduled to be released on the 13th of March in Japan and is yet to be known if it will be released on the rest of the world on the same date. Here are some screenshots that were released today!
Famitsu has recently revealed information regarding Lightning’s episode DLC, which has been confirmed not so long ago in a Square Enix conference. The episode will be about Lightning’s fight against Caius and more story details about the game’s ending will also be explained. It was also stated that it will feature a combat sytem different to the one used in the main game. The episode DLC is planned to be released on May, the exact date yet to be announced.
Thanks to forum member Lymle for notifying us of this information!
Earlier, it was confirmed that the retailer specific DLC weapons and the Omega Coliseum battle would become available on the PSN Store and Xbox Live Marketplace, at least in Japan and other eastern territories.
We’re happy to announce that these DLCs are now available everywhere.
Noel’s Catastrophe Blade and Muramasa, plus Serah’s Seraphic Wing and Genji Blade are all available for purchase. As previously stated the Omega Coliseum Battle is also now available. The battle rings in at $3.99 and the weapons are $1 each. I’m sure you can expect to pay the comparable amount of Microsoft Points if purchasing on an Xbox 360.
The next announced and planned DLC is the recently officially revealed Jihl Nabaat Coliseum Battle on March 13th. Be sure to check back here for anymore announced DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2
After much ado over whether a screenshot that surfaced last month of Jihl Nabaat in the Coliseum was real or not, the air is finally clear thanks to Dengeki Magazine this week.
The magazine confirms that Jihl will indeed be available for download on March 13th, priced at the typical ¥300. It will most likely be released in other territories on the same day for the usual price as well.

A new trailer for Sazh’s Episode DLC has been released. It’s in Japanese, and an English one is expected to be released soon. Watch the trailer below!
Previously announced to come out on the 28th this month, more screens and details regarding the DLC have been released.
The episode setting is in the casino Serendepity, and Sazh is said to be in search of his missing son, Dajh, for yet to be known reasons. Two new table games are to be added into the the casino’s minigames as we know of, one being Chrono Bind and the newly revealed Xanadu Poker (these are assumed to be the Japanese terms since the casino is called Xanadu in the Japanese game). Sazh will also encounter the travelling merchant Chocolina and will be asked by her to find some missing chocobos. More about their connection to each other will be revealed once the quest is completed.
