Square Enix has announced a new game in the Final Fantasy XIII series at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event, bringing Lightnings story to an end.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is out! With it comes a final trailer which neatly compresses all the good bits of FFXIII-2 into one minute.
The long wait is over. We've finished our review copy and had a great time, so come read our impressions of Final Fantasy XIII-2.
Final Fantasy XIII has been out for four days in Japan and it’s already sold 1.5 million copies nationwide. Square Enix has shipped 1.8 million copies to retailers across Japan and according to Enterbrain, the game has sold exactly 1,516,532 units so far. It has also helped boost PS3 sales to 245,406, the most PS3s sold in a week to date.
Square Enix has taken another opportunity to show off their partnership with Roen by bringing a new Final Fantasy Versus XIII costume to Jump Festa. The new outfit is for Noctis but we don’t know when he’s going to wear it or if it might possibly replace his existing one. See it in photos below.

I find it surprising that most of us forgot about Jump Festa this year. Even more surprising though is that a new Final Fantasy Versus XIII gameplay trailer has been shown there. Of course it was only a short trailer and it was shown in, you guessed it, Square Enix’s infamous Closed Mega Theatre. I can’t help but feel a little nostalgic at the moment.
The trailer begins with Noctis waiting on a highway and then being picked up by a car. It then speeds off. The entire trailer is in real time and apparently looks stunning (especially the lighting).
The tiny trailer ends with “Revelation will come next time”. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait for the next trailer as long as we did for this one.

Inevitably, Final Fantasy XIII has been leaked before it’s release date and a Japanese player has began a live stream of their playthrough.
Follow the link below to watch the Japanese version of Final Fantasy XIII being played live. We shouldn’t have to tell you that there are major spoilers being shown.

Final Fantasy XIII hasn’t escaped the lack luster experience that is Playstation Home with a feature in a Japanese magazine revealing it’s involvement in the virtual world.
The feature shows screenshots of Home avatars wearing Snow, Vanille and Sazh costumes as well as two very small screenshots of what looks like an FFXIII Home space. There also seems to be a plethora of Final Fantasy themed items you can use in your own Home space including Cactuars and Tonberrys. We’ll tell you more once the information is translated.
With stores ready for the launch of Final Fantasy XIII in four days, Square Enix has released the data for their first shipment of the game. They’ve shipped 1 million copies to stores around Japan and are planning on shipping another 150k on the 17th followed by 150k by the end of next week. That brings the total shipment for the first week to 1.3 million.
To put that into perspective, Final Fantasy XII shipped over 2 million copies before release. Of course that was because the Playstation 2 had a much larger install base at the time.

Another new Final Fantasy XIII TV Spot has aired on Japanese TV today during the Final Fantasy XIII Special Program which aired 40 minutes ago. The program was streamed live on Justin.tv but unfortunately the adverts were the most interesting part. The commercial includes a few seconds of new footage mainly focusing on battle gameplay.
Square Enix has just announced a Limited Collectors Edition version of Final Fantasy XIII in their European newsletter. What’s extras are included with it? They’re not saying yet but at least we now know there will be a European collectors edition. We can only assume it will be released in the US too. We’ll update you as soon as we find out anymore details.
