Square Enix has announced a new game in the Final Fantasy XIII series at the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event, bringing Lightnings story to an end.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is out! With it comes a final trailer which neatly compresses all the good bits of FFXIII-2 into one minute.
The long wait is over. We've finished our review copy and had a great time, so come read our impressions of Final Fantasy XIII-2.
Famitsu has released 16 new screenshots of Final Fantasy Type-0 on their website featuring many of the new characters revealed in their latest issue. There isn’t much more to say so see them all below.

Some five and a bit years down the line, the veil has finally been lifted on the remaining members of Class Zero with Famitsu running a feature on the characters of Trey, Cater and Cinque. Now you can sit down and think long and hard about who your main party will be – time to play favourites.
You can also cop a look at Qun’mi, Zhuyu and the king of Concordia – Byakko l’cie, Suzaku l’Cie and, well, king of Concordia respectively. Beyond that, there’s a short section dedicated to the game’s recently-revealed system of party attacks, known as Volley. Your three active characters will team up and then mess things up. And finally, the series-staple summon Bahamut makes an appearance, in all his dragon-y glory. Feel free to admire all the pretty pictures below.
Famitsu lands on shelves tomorrow.

As in Final Fantasy XIII, l’Cie roam the world of Final Fantasy Type-0, striving to complete their focus. So far the only announced l’Cie is Gilgamesh, but the latest issue of Dengeki reveals two more, as well as another two minor characters.
Zhuyu – (voiced by Hiroki Touchi)
A l’Cie from Suzaku’s own crystal. He was once a student of the Peristylium until he had his focus bestowed upon him. He still wears his uniform in an attempt to not forget who he is but after being a l’Cie for several years, he’s slowly becoming less human. He’s extremely strong and uses fire magic (the symbol of Suzaku).
Qun’mi – (voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi)
She’s a l’Cie from the Byakko crystal in Milites who only recently became one. Wearing full armor, she has a tremendous battle strength which allows her to use weapons beyond their limits. She also uses Magitek Armor called Dainsleif which is equipped with a Crystal Jammer and can launch a large barrage of missiles simultaneously.
The other two characters revealed are Yuzuki and the King of Souryu. Yuzuki (voiced by Yuu Kobayashi) is a female who’s a member of a group that protects Concordia. The King of Souryu (voiced by Jun Fukuyama) hasn’t been named yet but is known for wearing a mask.

As promised, Square has released a bunch of new Final Fantasy XIII-2 screenshots today. With them comes a render of the new Serah artwork released yesterday, as well as a mashup of the previous two XIII-2 trailers, featuring narration from Kitase and Toriyama.
The screenshots feature a new area known as Yaschas Massif, a location near where Hope received Alexander on Gran Pulse. The ruins themselves are of Paddra, what was once one of the largest cities on Pulse. The city is filled with soldiers and scientists searching for something.
A little more has leaked from the Final Fantasy Type-0 demo. This time, the Type-0 world map has been extracted showing all four countries in their entirety. Although it’s small and not the best quality thanks to the method it was extracted with, it does a good job at showing the world we’ll be playing in. In the second image, the location of the Suzaku Peristylium has been added to provide some scale.
Thanks to our forum member Rabla for finding this.
The latest issue of V-Jump has been released with a small preview of Final Fantasy XIII-2. Unfortunately, most of the information has already been revealed so there isn’t anything new except for the picture of Serah. See it below.

V-Jump has released a Final Fantasy Type-0 feature on newly named character Cater, Deuce, and Trey. With it comes summaries on the three class zero members, detailing their personality and weapons. See the scan itself below.
Cater
Known for her strong confidence and emotions. She hates to lose and can be relied on in any situation but wears her heart on her sleeve. Her weapon is a shotgun with magic infused shells. She can’t move while firing but her ammo can be fired continuously without ever running out.
Trey
A mature class member, who’s calm and takes care of his appearance. His wisdom allows him to understand peoples train of thought but he’s known for speaking at great length. Trey’s weapon is a bow which gives him the furthest range of all the students but he can only hit still targets.
Deuce
A serious girl who works arduously, performing her duties for class zero without hesitation. Quick to speak her mind. She uses a flute as her weapon which sends “bundles of sound” towards her target. She can use musical scales to set traps.

Georgia van Cuylenburg, the voice actress behind Vanille, has let slip that she’ll be reprising her role in Final Fantasy XIII-2. During a Twitter exchange, she confirms she’s working on the project despite her characters unfortunate crystallization at the end of the first game. She’s tight lipped about how she appears but calls it a “very different experience”. Whether she’s appears through flashbacks, alternate worlds or otherwise is still unclear. See the exchange below.

With the demo for Final Fantasy Type-0 being out for a few days now, Square has had plenty of feedback on the experience from the players themselves. There have been a couple of major complaints, mainly the poor camera and the Phantoma system. Quite surprisingly the games director, Hajime Tabata, has posted a video on the Square Enix Members Twitter where he assures fans that the camera and Phantoma system are being fixed. It’s great news that feedback has been taken onboard so quickly.
