Japanese gamers want Final Fantasy XIII to go multiplatform
Japanese magazine Famitsu has released the results from their latest online poll, "What exclusive game would you like to go multiplatform?". Looks like Japanese gamers really want Final Fantasy XIII to make an appearance on both Wii and Xbox360; The game took the 3rd place at the poll with 196 votes:
"Final Fantasy XIII - Square Enix's flagship series is a PS3 exclusive, and there's nothing to suggest that would ever change, but fans point to the still relatively small market share of Sony's high-end machine and say that the title could be a much bigger hit if it sold on the Xbox 360. Still, Sony and its loyal fans say that the market share of the PS3 will grow significantly once the title hits the racks."
Another Square Enix title that is featured in the poll is Dragon Quest IX that took the 4th place with 47 votes; Looks like people don't like the idea that the game is a Nintendo DS exclusive!
Don't know about you, but I personally want FF13 to go multiplatform.
Why, it would only weaken the game and bring more delays if a game is multi platform. Im not gonna bring up a console war, but if you don't dedicate a game to a console it would somewhat either be delayed or lack several optimization.

You won't start a console war with me because I honestly couldn't care less if Sony or Microsoft lose an exclusive or two. All I want from them is to let me play great games, and I'm sure some people do think the same.
You are right, though, by saying that a multiplatform game will lack specific console-related optimizations, but at least more people who can't afford to own 37 consoles will be able to play it.

it should deffinately go multiplatform..nothing wrong with expanding the market, and in this case it would be a huge market to open up to. all 3d party games should go multiplatform..first party should be the deciding factors on what console to get
Would be great if all the Xbox fans that plays Halo, Gears Of War could get a taste of FF! And the fact that DQ 9 is DS exclusive, i hate it. Hate DS, hate Nintendo.
Well, PS3 uses Blu-ray. Blu-Ray discs can have 80GB of space on them. Xbox uses HD which atm use about 8GB.
Thats a huge difference between the amount of stuff can fit onto each seperate disc. The quality in the gameplay is going to be massive. Both have hard drives so :S
Oooh, I feel some deep sonyfanboyism here. Ill join, nintedo is ok, but it will be interesting too see what will happen to them when the gimmicks (DS and WII) is well used. They have to come up with something else in that case. I cant comment on xbox, never tried it, but dang I want GoW on ps3. We still miss a killer killer app. They will come, just not yet.

Yep because they don't use HD-DVD discs for games. Rocking that DVD9. Mass Effect is going to have my children.
I agree with Enedok/Gherik and he knows it. I own all systems every cycle it isn't that hard. I like exclusives as they allow games to run better on the console used as the base for the project. Getting projects to every console in existence is Ubisoft/EA's job. And choosing a multi-platform game is so lame.
as long as i have the game the play the platform dont matter. why should it and if there were to be some console war let them get on with the bickering
Final Fantasy is ( i think. so dont start im in a sucky mood ) percifically made to stretch the ps3s abilities. then again i wouldnt mind it going multiplatform as i do have 360 aswell (i lack in wii) so i could go either way. but id stay
to the ps3 ff wise simply because of the out come of ffxiii on the ps3 will hopefully be astounding. =P
Thats what FF13 would have to come in if it was going to 360. After all Square said they want FF13 to "exceed PS3 capabilities"
The 360 aint got jack on that.

Interesting that FFXIII came 3rd in the poll....does anyone know what were the games in the 1st and 2nd positions?
Hang on, 196 votes? Only 196 people said they wanted it multi platform...? How many did they ask?
196 people...isn't that pretty much the entire Japanese 360 user base?
But seriously, a poll containing such a small amount of people could hardly be considered a definitive indication of the opinions of the entire Japanese game playing population.
It's a bit strange that Biohazard 5 is at number five when it is already a multiplatform title - or is it that Wii owners want it for their machine aswell?
Surprised to see Monster Hunter at the number 1 postion - I didn't realise it had become so popular...
