I only hate a few things, ppl acting like lemmings is one of them. As for a reason, religion raises sheep to go spread some their "faith" (which is by the way is typically a tint or shade of Christianity/Islam/etc. such as Baptist or Mormon) so their already spreading distorted faith. Then you got the peeps who get so defensive on their faith that anything else is wrong. Guess what, ppl disagree (and that's perfectly fine), then they must assert why they are right by afflicting the other side. Guess what, most wars were fought over? (Religion.) In fact some religions like Islam preach that all who aren't muslim need to go trip off a cliff.

You have apparently never been to a Church run by a good pastor (Even though Atheists think there is no such thing, obviously). I understand that a lot of churches discriminate against certain things that they shouldn't (I hate the ones where they are say you have to dress well for Church on Sunday; I do not have to dress well. They essentially wore rags back in the day to go to church.); but the one I go to doesn't, or not that I know of. As far as I can tell, the pastor pretty much follows the Bible, and Jesus (God), whatever because he thinks it to be true. Not because his parents think the same or because it's tradition.

I've been to a couple of churches and a christian school, wasn't fun. I didn't like the idea that if I brought in a game magazine that had Link on the cover that it was considered witchcraft and against God. Not only that but when asked if Jesus was a magician? Is there a fundamental difference? Science says everything is energy . What's the difference, it's still an ability with just a different word. Shouldn't the action of what does with that power define who they are and not what that item or power is?

As for the feel good shit, he preaches a lot of times on how most of the time your life will be harder if you follow Christianity as it should be followed. So, I don't think you have it quite right. The idiots on TV who gleefully preach that if you just pray and accept Christ you will get whatever you want (Wealth, etc, etc) are the ones you should be pointing your finger at. Granted, to me this is another subject too (Anything good [supposedly good anyway] will have it's faults, etc, etc, or people who take advantage; like those on TV on Sunday morning.

Another reason why religion isn't in politics, etc.. Because it's so subjective as to what really means what. His opinion isn't fact as are most pastors who either have better or worse interpretations. No one I know of walked the streets with Jesus.

Aside from the fact that I now despise you and think of you an idiot for relating matters of religion to FF; you have a good point... to a degree. The only subject I can think of off the top of my head that that would apply to is gay marriage (go figure); and as far as I know, if you read the Bible it does say Marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman. Other than that I don't know that it says much else concerning gay marriage. I don't have a problem with it, as long as you call it something else, or change the definition of the word marriage. According to Webster, marriage is only marriage if it's with the opposite sex. Change the definition or come up with a new word, and I'm good.

What was to read between the lines is how people will immiedately get nostalgic or feel threatened of change. You can see religion fuckin up to interracial marriages, science, women etc. Some ppl really don't like change and go off their faith practice to assert why they are right.

As for the whole screaming and yelling because of a change; that could happen with anything. Don't try and just pin down religion. I am sure if it was flipped and religion was starting to gain power and Atheists were losing it, they would cry foul too. It's the state of power the side you support has that makes you develop the attitude; not the practice itself.

I wouldn't say I'm pinning down religion, more like it threw itself under the bus and ppl are pointing it out. You're right about ppl calling fouls, look at the fans of Tetsuya Nomura duking it out with Amano fans (great example of winning/lossing powers). However the practice is the side is what I'm speaking about.

Wait, hold on. Just so you know, I am a Christian. I have a lot of problems with it though, which is why I come off as an Atheist to a lot of people. I also like to keep my preferences out of debates, and arguments. The fact that you thought I was an Atheist makes me feel I am doing something right at least.

I'm Christian myself so I'f I'm coming off "I H8TE RELIGION CUZ ITS FOR LUZERZ" I'm not. Rather it's proven to be hypocritical and downright discriminatory to people. And when I'm referring to Religion, its to the whole pot not just Christianity.

Schools in the U.S are not "pretty much" against religion, you realise that the Creationism, or more accurately, Intelligent Design has wormed its way to being an "alternative" way of looking at the world with "equal weight" within the science room? Even over here I remember my biology teacher gritting her teeth and being forced to say "evolution is only an idea." "Only an idea" that is based on emperical research and evidence unlike a beardy sky man whose existence is based upon people saying so in an archaic book.

Anyways, you're deluded to think that Intelligent design has equal weight in the scientific community. Its pretty much completely rejected still, they're just trying to get it in.

Atheists won't be happy until the word "god" or its equals in all languages are completely gone, and almost all of what is said to be "good.

When did I say it was equally accepted in the scientific community? I said it wormed its way through the science room, as in a high school setting, due to riled up soccer moms from the south not teachin' dems chillen' properly and waving around the first amendment.
I'll be happy when logic and reason prevails over illusion. The world won't be perfect, I don't think people are capable of that, but at least there won't be institutes dedicated to people kidding themselves. Here's an anecdote for you. Last year I was in one of my European Studies classes and we were talking about how in Athens a "cult" has risen in the past years declaring to be followers of Zeus. Besides me and one other everyone else was Greek Orthodox and they all pissed themselves laughing. Why? Because having a guy in the sky smiting people is so outrageous? Because all those old religions are clearly just stories made up in a time when people didn't understand the world as much as we do? And it's clearly been proven that Zeus doesn't exist. HURP DURP
