I said generic/true game, but it's probably wrong. I don't prefer retro games really, but I grew up with a lot of them started with the NES although it was during the reign of the SNES and Genesis... so Super Mario Bros. then moved on to the PS1 with Final Fantasy games and stuff like Crash Bandicoot haha, but a lot of other rpgs like Lunar, Legend of Dragoon, FF tactics, Wild Arms, but with the next gen I also developed a huge love for FPS on my PS2. So I don't know, I love gaming online in stuff like COD, play sports game from time-to-time, but I love my story lines in my RPG games. The only thing I'm really not is an action game, never been able to get into the God of Wars or Devil May Cry's and other things like that.
I'm a Generic Gamer myself, growing up and appreciating the authenticity of the "roots of origin" that has become our ever growing community of gamers. I span back to the days of Atari and...D&D/AD&D.
I play almost anything though...I'm not much of an MMORPGer because I haven't actually played many MMORPGs. I'm bad at most shooting games, sports games and the odd racing game.
I'll play almost any gamethough.
I'm an odd case... I would say Generic/Story-liner/Adventurer
I didn't grow up during the start of video games (grew up during the SNES and Genesis time period and on), but my older brother made sure I grew up from the start which made me a younger Generic Gamer. So basically I'm not that old but grew up playing the games someone older than I would. That is why I said an odd case.
Anyway the main reason I play games is for their story, but once I have experienced the story I like to make sure I explore everywhere / do everything I could possibly do in the game. Which is a reason I enjoy trophies/achievements it gives me a sense on whether I could do more or not in a game.
And as far as MMOs I will play them and have, but I am not the typical MMO player that gets sucked in making it the only thing I ever do.

When I began gaming for me it was all about the story of the game. The gameplay could be utter rubbish without being ridiculous but if the game had a decent story I would still finish it and say it was enjoyable.
I thus voted story liner, but I would fall into adventurer as well since my tastes have become far more wide spread, even though I still only play RPG's and the odd shoot-em-up with mates.
I've turned into the casual gamer over the years. The older you get, the less time you have to game (plus other hobbies pop up taking your time and money away). I only buy games that REALLY excite me. I don't really follow gaming media anymore as well...
Casual Gamer here. I only play once in awhile. Wish I could play more though, but college and worked has got me fucked now! I mostly play online games anyways.
