ConnectedConsoles: Insomniac confirmed that their Ratchet & Clank series would not be going to Xbox or Wii anytime soon a couple of weeks ago. Now, IG have said that creating a non-Sony platform game is a possibility for the future.
Interesting, I've always liked their Sony games and have always had a Sony platform so I never missed out I guess so I don't have too much of an opinion on this.

I've been having these weird thoughts lately… Like, is any of this for real… Or not?
Still, it's good news since it wouldn't hurt Insomniac..
That depends on how you look at it. As it is, they get funding and development assistance from Sony and by making games that are available on other platforms, they would obviously lose those benefits.
Anyway, Insomniac seems to be emphasizing the point that they are independent, third party developers rather than saying they want to or have plans to develop for other platforms. As long as they are in a good position with Sony, I doubt they'd have any interest in working on other platforms due to the benefits they have right now.
with price cut and slim model I was hoping to see more PS3 exclusives in future but .... losing Insomniac is a dreadful descend and a dismal future
is it MS's fault again ? to deceive them ? next target will be Naughty Dog ?

Except for the fact that going multiplatform almost always means you make more money. Several developers have stated this generation that the way the system currently is, exclusives just aren't the way that they should go. As for them losing benefits from Sony, that seems like it wouldn't be a big deal. As much as Microsoft haters call them M$, you think the company wouldn't toss them some money to get one of their titles to appear on the 360?
Either way, whether Insomniac decides to develop multiplatform or not, there's absolutely no reason to get up in arms about it. Who really cares if the PS3 is the only home for Insomniac games?
Solid. There is no harm done when going multi platform and considering Sony isn't even doing that well compared to the 360 (with the exception of the Slim pulling more sales since it's release).
Also, it really doesn't matter what console they begin to develop for anyhow. I agree with you wholly.

I think losing those benefits could be extremely painful, depending on the position they are in. We have no idea what kind of budget Insomniac could put behind a game without Sony's assistance, or what their developers are capable of without additional support. They could be fine, or that could result in them being the next Factor 5.
Not to mention the fact that if Microsoft was going to pay them off, it would likely result in some form of exclusivity contract. Timed or not, that would be a pretty big slap in the face to Sony, the company that basically got them where they are today.

There's no reason to be up in arms about anything in this topic. Insomniac isn't saying anything that we haven't known for years - if they want to make a game for another platform they can; they are still an independent developer and it's an option for them.
As for me, I've never even owned an Insomniac game and couldn't care less if Microsoft or Activision or whoever bought them.
In the end, we just don't know what type of financial position they're end. We couldn't come to conclusion of any sort without knowing what kind of relationship they have with Sony, let alone being a developer strictly for Sony consoles.
Ehh.. I suppose we can be a bit glad. They probably aren't that important to most..
Funny how this makes new but anything about splinter cell conviction actually being multiplat and not exclusive gets suppressed, well I guess thats what MS pays for though

Maybe because there is no such news about Splinter Cell yet. But no, that just makes too much sense.
I smell Iphone game, seriously thats probably all it is, I doubt sony will lose them as a developer

If you drugged the devs with some truth serum and ask them if they intented to put splinter cell conviction on the ps3 eventually they would say yes, and the only reason they wouldn't make it a simatanious release is if MS paid them for timed exclusivity like they do with half their "exclusives" and the majority of their worthwhile ones
