Mobile phone games are a big hit in japan, believe it or not. Square Enix also want to make use of a phones online capabilities, and it will be episodic. I don't think its enough hunger for the game in English countries that it will ever officially come here.
You could have bumped the Poll: Cell vs. Portable topic.
The cellphone market isn't as big in NA or Europe as Japan but that doesn't have to influence the platform of choice. Since NA is just getting Before Crisis which has been out in Japan for about 2-3 years. The project is also on a smaller scale so it doesn't cost them as much to produce compared to if it was on a handheld platform.
It's on the phone because Mobile phones in Asia are very popular. Heck even 8 year olds are talking on the cellphone already. Since there is so many people with cellphones, why not release the game to a very large audience.
yh couldve been on psp but i guess its cheaper to develop for cellphones....if im right
btw:cellphones are big in japan.....you may think square is being concited developing the game on phones cause it big in japan and that not everyone will get the chance to play it.........but its not hard to get hold of either e.g the phone
More people could play it on the DS as well so it would be a better choice for it. Not to mention that cellphones have a huge userbase worldwide and given the time it can be released everywhere that Square believes matters.
yeah it's been known for months now that Agito XIII is a game for the mobile phones
And that it'd be better if Square had decided to release it on a DS or PSP but w cant do anything against that..they will always do what they want anyway
I just hope to graphics aren't so bad in the mobile phone. Its getting kinda boring when the graphics are so poor
theyre probably waiting until technology developes because current cell phones cant hold that kind of graphics or gameplay for that matter. so well probably have to wait a long time.

The cell phone industry is one of the biggest industries in Asia and therefore more high tech (eg. TV, MP3 players, etc.). It acts more like a daily planner type thing to them, so the asian community uses it daily. It would make sense for them to put it on cell phones, whereas, in America, Europe, and where ever, the cellphones main use is for talking and texting.
But, yeah, if this game ever does come to the US. they whould put it on UMD format so we can play it on PSPs.

I'm actually worrying if ever he game is released, wouldn't it also be hard to play? And since not all phones can have the game, wouldn't that be almost double the price because they still have to buy a new phone?
Square doesn't think in the rest of the world, that's why they do this for the cellphone. They should have done for a PSP lol
Right answer, really. Brazil is part of the biggest cell phone markets around the world, believe it or not, but I don't see them releasing FFs in Brazilian cell phones because of that.
They want to make it episodic? Could use the same system that MMORPGs use with the monthly subscription fees, but allowing for download of the next episode on your PSP.
SE is about pleasing the JP costumers first, second and the rest of the world fights for the third place. :[
