View Poll Results: Which console should I buy for this game?
Quite honestly, you cannot expect people to impose their own views into your situation and only ask for an absolute answer. If you're seriously not concerned about any other games, perhaps you should look at which system is a better multimedia system (IMO the PS3), assuming you'll be watching movies, streaming music etc. Buying a PS3 would incidentally, allow you to play FFXIV and vXIII in addition to being able to make the most of the PSP you already own. Ultimately I don't want to give you a definitive answer but if you truly agree with the pros and cons in your list then the PS3 does seem to compare favourably. Good luck with whatever decision you make...

And don't forget about the Playstation Home/Playstation Store. Home is fun to hang out at for awhile.
I have a 360 and I'm sure FFXIII will run fine on it, but I'm going to buy a PS3 when FFXIII comes out, lol.
There are a lot of other PS3 games I want to play too though, so it's not solely for FFXIII, but I figure that's as good a time as any to get one!
But like I said before you should figure out which console you like more not which console 'one' game plays slightly better on or w/e you were going with that. I myself prefer the Playstation cuz its got a lot of good exclusives coming this year (and next) and its really the better deal with all the built in stuff you would otherwise have to pay more for on the 360 like wifi. 360 is really slowing down lately in comparison, but its your call.
ps3 for versus, blu-ray and sheer muscle power. 360 for more selection of rpgs. i own a ps3 and i'm damn happy with it, so that's my #1 pick. and it's a perfect time to get a slim cuz of the price cut, i doubt it will get any cheaper.
I don't think you can take an answer and hoping it will be right. Everyconsole has it own set of games, and depending the kind of gamer you are then that's the right console for you. The PS3 may have awesome features but so does the Wii and the XBox, each have their own (I'm a PS3 fan though ^^). You may like the final fantasies, but remember that the PS3 as I last knew are not playing PS2 games (and these are the best FF in my opinion) do a little more study and check what is right for you. Because believe me if you buy a 300 dollars machine and don't like it it's gonna be hard
You should buy whichever console has a lineup of other games that you think you will enjoy more. Buying a console and thinking only of one game usually turns out to be an epic waste of money.
Personally though I'd say you should get a 360 because it has a shit-ton of RPGs in comparison to the PS3, and I'm guessing you like RPGs or you wouldn't be hyped about FFXIII.
Aside from that, imo, the 360 has a greater catalogue of decent games despite the slightly worse technical specs. The lack of Blu-Ray isn't a massive deal. And also, you may have to pay for the online service but the quality of customer care for that is, afaik, unrivalled.
A Halo 3 360 Elite is the same price as a PS3 slim with no extras, as is a 360 Elite with a choice of 2 games, so as far as price is concerned, the 360 still comes out on top.
HGTV is an interesting network if you're a home owner, or a potential home owner, but I would advise against buying up any stock in it, especially in this market.
Anyway, I own both consoles, although my 360 has been broken for nearly a year. My warranty expired 3 weeks before it got the red rings cancer(the third time my 360 has been inflicted with it). I'm so pissed off that I find myself too lazy to fix that piece of shit. It deserves to sit there and collect dust... I can't say I don't miss Xbox Live though. The only TV shows I like is Final Report and Man vs Wild, so the extent of my TV watching used to be done entirely through Live. PSN for whatever reason still doesn't carry Final Report, which is a crime as far as I'm concerned. Can't win with these fucking next gen systems.
So with that knowledge, I would perhaps buy a shooter or a WRPG that the system is so popular for, but I only care about FF, so I would hate nothing more than to have to get the cancer in the middle of my play through. I've had the PS3 for some time and I can say thats its build quality is as exceptional as its aesthetic. And with Blu-ray being more important to me than any of that other shit, there is no question of which console to choose, if I had to.
I hear you about "life responsibilities" getting in the way of games. Believe it or not I never had a PS2, so my choice was to get a backward compatible PS3 so I can enjoy FFX & FFXII that I missed out on years ago.
As others have said if you have any interest in Versus, then PS3 gets another point as it did for me.
Now if the goal is just to play FF XIII and that's it, then the 360 arcade (don't yell at me) may be the ticket if it will be compatible with only a memory card (ie, no hard drive install files). But get a NEW one - supposedly they've corrected the overheating issue causing RROD with better heat sink compound and attachment methods. You can't even get a new Wii for that price.
Oh, if you have any interest in blu-ray movies, then the PS3 does double as a nice player.

PS3 has the same, if not more RPGs, and has had more announced for it. The only ones worth getting on 360 are now on PS3 anyway, so your point is moot.
