No MP ?

I looked over some old pictures of FF XIII. I never thought of some things like ATB cost, but now I understand.

Here is why I do not think there's any MP. IGN

I never thought about this but then I saw it:

This is what lightning does: Attack>Attack>V-Strike
We also see that her ATB cost is 110.

Then it hit me. Attack costs 30 ATB and V-strike costs 50 ATB.

Attack - 30 ATB
Attack - 30 ATB
V-Strike - 50 ATB

Total cost - 110 ATB

In this battle she uses: V-Strike>Attack>Firaga>Shoot (Something was used before V-strike, because you can see an empty slot.)
This obviously costs more ATB as we can see.


Didn't SE say that partymembers could combine attacks? Maybe if the player has good timing he can get his characters to start a combo.

I would be pissed off if they did. We already know how it failed in FF8, we dont need another.

Now I think about it the ATB cost is next to the magics name so there isn't really any space for MP. I suppose taking away more ATB for more powerful magic like Ultima could be the replacement for MP unless theres some other completly different system. Anyway there isnt any new information here so I'll move it to FFXIII discussion.

It makes sense since any action requires energy and time. Hence ATB. To have a magic bar (even though it has worked for ages) just wastes too much time.

Case in point how FFX-2 does magic.

Still that is the only reason why I dont like magic. Maybe now I may actually use it lawl.
