I was just emailed this message: "FFXIII Soundtrack Artists Revealed". There was nothing else in the email, no link, no proof but I thought I'd look into it. The email was from someone @IGN.com so I started there. I ended up finding a blog claiming there is a rumor that a band called Telefon Tel Aviv is doing the FFXIII main theme.
If you read the blog they say its rumored that this band is doing the main theme...but there isn't any evidence what so ever. I looked into the band and I didnt find anything there except they're from Chicago and are huge fans of video games.
Anyone have any proof at all of this? I hope they do have a better main theme in this game than XII's Kiss me Good Bye by Angela Aki.
I hated that song. Maybe it was because the only time I heard the song it was just the piano. But now listening to the actually recorded version it's okay.

I don't think the blog mentioned anything about Telefon Tel Aviv doing the main theme; instead I think they're may just doing overall music.
Quote from the biography on their website:
Quote:
Telefon Tel Aviv is now approaching it's 8th year in the unending endeavor to acheive the complete hybridization of music:: formally, stylistically, and sonically. This attempt to quantify and qualify nostalgia in a physical sense will continue as Telefon Tel Aviv strives to reach this end, which seemingly cannot be met.
Pretty deep, huh? ;p Have a listen at their music on their website.
I think this kind of music would be suitable for the RPG genre, considering the RPG time-consuming story aspect of traveling around the world. I really enjoyed Nobuo Uematsu's music, as it really connected the player with the game; even though his music was made for games, I'm sure it could stand on its own. From what I heard of the music from Telefon Tel Aviv on their website, it does have a certain "sit-back-and-relax" style/mood to it, but if they're going to do the majority of the music for the game, hopefully they can inspire more than just nostalgia, reflection, and stillness but tension, fear, and excitement as well.
There is a major difference in music types between 12 and 13. Still im more for a techno or trance type of music. Though I do love the occasional classic, I do hope we get a burst of adrenaline song though .

absouletly there is a major diffrence. Even beyond those ages too. My Radio is kept on a Classical station. I love classical always have since i was a little girl.
I enjoyed it too. Maybe it was because of the Asian musical techniques. I dunno. But the music is telling us about about a fast battle. Or something along the lines of that.

Hmm i liked their music (Telefon Tel Aviv) XD now i feel like buying their albums AHUAHUAhuA
i wouldnt mind if they are in charge of the main theme...with some lead i think they can do a song that will make us cry XD no im kidding, i dont know about anything!!!!
i dont know if you guys know the anime Innocent Venus XD but the ending Song Brand New Reason by FLEET sounds just like Telefon Tel Aviv music XD
If you scroll down to the very bottom it says that the main theme is done by Nobuo Uematsu. So Telefon Tel Aviv could be doing some of the overall music. But what I'm wondering is, if Telefon Tel Aviv [TTA] is doing the overall music, why would they just have Nobuo Uematsu do the main theme?

I'm not sure that site is conveying the correct information.
Hm..you could be right. I was just searching for images and came across that.

You about gave me a heart attack when you said that. I love Nobuo Uematsu's music and would hate to see him leave Square Enix. Thanks Kimitsu for clearing things up a little.

Nobuo Uematsu has indeed left Square Enix. He founded Smile Please Co., Ltd in 2004 as his own independent music production company. You can check out the website here (only in Japanese unfortunately)
The company works on a 'for hire' contract basis, so potentially any games company could hire him to make music for their games. This is how he now works with Square Enix - he is no longer an employee, but they contract his Smile Please company to provide music for some of their games. Currently Uematsu and Smile Please are doing the music for the Mistwalker games Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, and as various people have mentioned here, one of the main themes in FFXIII.
