If you look at the credits you will find, under Reddas, Phil LaMarr!!!
He has played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Jack in Samurai Jack. Even Vamp in MGS4! (Excuse me if this was already posted.)
I don't think this was "overlooked" or really a surprise, there are HEAPS of connections like that when you look through the list of voice actors. This is nothing new.
Most of FFX's voice cast was in The Animatrix. Wakka/Kimahri's voice actor voices Marcus Fenix and Bender. Vossler's voice actor does Altair, Nathan Drake, The Prince (PoP) plus a lot more. Vaan's voice actor was in Spy Kids 3.
Not that it really matters but actually he wasn't in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He was in Wolverine and the X-Men which was an animated series. The guy is African American and if you've seen the new X-Men movie, Gambit most definitely is not.
I guess that Vamp is really African American and has pulled a Michael Jackson on us all then?
What are you talking about? Vamp is in a video game. All the actor contributed was his VOICE. In games and animated things you can do that sort of thing. It's a little harder to change your skin color in an actual movie with actors being filmed and such.
EDIT: Taylor Kitsch played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

I think when that person said that LaMar played Gambit in X-men Origins he was referring to the game... I would have thought that was obvious.

Dude, do some research. He's not even in the game. Gambit's voice in the game is Chris Edgerly. I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, I've just looked it up and am stating what I found. The guy has ties to Wolverine and the X-Men, not X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
I don't even know why I'm going back and forth with you on this...it's not like it mattered a whole lot in the first place!

It's not really me you should be talking to is it. The other guy made the mistake, but then you thought he was talking about the movie and so went on about how he's black so he couldn't possibly have played Gambit in the movie which prompted me to say that he was talking about the game version of Gambit, which he was, even though he was incorrect.
Well then it's not really me you should be talking to if this other guy got it wrong. I was just responding to your post where you referred to cartoon shows that use voices and then a live action movie in the same sentence, making it sound like you thought the fact that he was black meant he couldn't voice a white character.
Well, quite honestly I WASN'T talking to you about it originally. You responded to my post which made me have to start talking to you about it to defend my statement. YOU made my post directed at you. I was really just making a general remark...not really directed at anyone in response to the original post. Just an FYI if you will...

Yes I know you weren't talking to me originally, but you were the one who misunderstood someone, not me, but then you went about responding to me as if I was the one who had gotten something wrong. So now I've cleared it up and I don't need to talk about it anymore.
Edit: I can't believe I wasted my 1000th post on this shit.
And the voice of Judge Ghis was the actor behind Zaphod Beeblebrox in the BBC series adaption of THHGTTG, namely Mark Wing-Davey. Awesome brit does awesome characters!
