You know what I don't like? Lately, less and less of Nomura's hand drawn work is being shown on covers and within manuals to FFs... Why? Is it because now is the age of 3D, as I'm often told when I ask why Disney won't go back to cell animation instead of only doing work with Pixar.
Could it be that other than a special art back here and there to celebrate an aniversery or something, we'll be seeing less and less of hand drawn art?
Often I have wo scowl the net for Nomura's work now. Only finding tidbits already seen in a few of his KH games. I can't be the only one who wants him to be allow to draw plenty of pictures and have them all over the game book and cover!
For example! Musashi 2 had a drawn cover and back cover. KH 1 had lots of drawn art. KH 2 a little. It's like the close to 2008 you get, the less Nomura or hand drawn art at all you see.
I know for the most part there's only like one or two cell animation movies coming out in the US (Princess and the Frog) but I expect more from Japan. What with a history of great art. Why shove art over for 3D alone. Why not show 50% of both? Why not have a hand draw pic of the character beside a 3D picture of them in the character page in the game book?
What are your thoughts?

Yeah. Sad. But I think, like drawn animation, one day they'll show that kinda art again.
I really wanna see the official art of Lightning and Noctis. Also, unlike in Versus, Agito and Dissidia, Nomura's not drawing all the characters in 13. Only Lightning, Oreba, and Snow are his creations.
I didn't like the artist for 12 and flet like if the Ivalice group was gonna control that game, they shouldn've made a few badass characters. I could tell by the art a lot of characters would be stuck up and haughty. And with 4 characters I was right. Ashe, Balthier, Fran, and Vayne were all UNBELIEVEABLE stuck up.
That game was way too much for the older gamers. There was a serious elitest vibe throughout the game that showed up even in the art.
No offense to 12-fans. I like a mature game. But I feel like you can get that with adult character constantly looking down on the younger ones. Something Bal and Ashe did CONSTANTLY. Even Fran, who I hoped wouldn't, followed suit.
But I degrise... Art wise, I want Nomura to be all over things. I'm not saying work himself to death, but I don't want him to fade away from FF and only do KH games.

This is true, but I think what one thing he participated in was Denzels Episode in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete. But I see your reasoning and I have to admit that I do like the old way better in some parts but I also like seeing the 3D side of things. It gives things a cool schpeel (my family uses this word) to them.
No, because these days, Nomura feels like we the fans want to see more of Amano's illustrations. Not sure why.

I played Vagrant Story and enjoyed FF Tactics. That is why I love FFXII.

Actually Disney is doing a new 2D movie called The Princess and The Frog...although the story behind it is bullshit, it's a black princess in the 1920's living in the New Orleans
But yeah I've also noticed that they are only doing 3-D rendered artwork, I have nothing against that but I wish they would do both, like 2-D concept work and then the 3-D rendered work.

Kingdom Hearts Re: CoM was released recently in the US with a hand-drawn cover, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days' Japanese cover is also hand-drawn. I don't think much is going to change there, really.
Final Fantasy covers never featured Nomura's art anyway. The Japanese covers have always been Amano's logos, and the US ones have been 3D since VII.

They really do need to release the concept art for Lightning, Snow, and Vanille already - they're final designs, so there's bound to be something that he drew for them. =P I can kind of understand why there's nothing released for Noct, though, since they haven't even revealed his final outfit yet.
One thing - Nomura isn't drawing all of the characters for Agito, either. That came up in an interview recently - there's too many of them for him to draw them all, especially since he's probably focused on Versus now.

i heard about this on the radio i think its a pretty good idea despite the fact they want to make a new disney princess or whatever and most people are gonna be like lets stick to the old ones but its nice they are making them more diverse

Well if you think about it, the only thing really emphasized is the foxy looking Sora thing. XD
It's emphasized because it's the Famitsu mascot. They apparently like to dress it up like different game characters.
And it's definitely more of a fox than a cat. XD Nekomimi might be more recognizable, but people with kitsune ears aren't all that unusual in anime-style art, either.
