Toriyama said a few days ago we would be recieveing FFXIII "as soon as possible" but it seems "soon" has a different meaning to him. In an interview with Nomura, he speaks about his current projects including KH2: Final Mix, Advent Children: Complete and his other works. They're all to be released this year (hopefully so he can get working on Versus) but according to him FFXIII isn't going to be released in 2007.

I can't say I'm surprised though. It takes a long time to make these games and we want it made well. Let's hope its worth the wait and as Dante says theres alot of other good games in 2007 which should keep us fairly satisfied.
It could be already out but it seams to be a rather large universe so they have spend all the time developing the story. And since they moved from PS2 to PS3 they had to dump everything and start from scrap and when even the software isn't complete.
I would rather wait for a couple of years then be disappointed... patience...
i have Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Halo 3 ext ext ext.. to look forward to in 07...besides, the later FFXIII comes out, the longer i can wait to buy a damn PS3, and i wasnt expecting it this year anyway, deffinately early to mid to maybe even late next year..
Perhaps I am saying that instead of pleasing 100000 fans at the same time they divide their work like a professional company. It doesnt take 1.5 years to make a good videogame.

they do have divisions within the company and each works on a specific game...and it actually takes longer than 1.5 years to make a game...a good one atleast
most games i hear seem to average 3 years....you have to take in to account all of production that is Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production..FF13 alone has been in the works for 3 years
Or Maybe Not...
and as Dante says theres alot of other good games in 2007 which should keep us fairly satisfied.
