As information is revealed about games, I find it fun to look back on all of the absolutely stupid ideas I had about what each thing could mean. I want this thread to be a central location for all of our well-thought-out theories about FFXIII and Versus. How good they are isn't the point, how silly they seem after the fact is. And heck, if anyone gets it right on, asspats all around.
So keep the discussion to a minimum. Only edit your posts after your theories have been proved/disproved. Clearly explain your thought processes. Use grammar and punctuation so we all understand what you're talking about.
Theorized 1/26/2009: Versus: The conflict is somehow tied to duty and loyalties. "Only thinking makes it so" may refer to the ideas that divide people into factions, parties, gangs etc. With this logic, the tension between Noctis and Stella could be caused by the loyalty they have for their "side" but the romantic spark that may exist between them. Tres Romeo & Juliet.
Noctis will rule one nation while being in love with stella then their two countries fight and he loves her and she loves him and dafddafdsf romeo and juilet.dfsfs
1. A main character other than Lightning, Sazh, Vanille and Snow will die (possibly Vanille though)
2. Snow or an unrevealed plush-toy character will become a traitor
3. Lightning turns out to be a drag queen
4. Vanille has a bizarre obsession with a vehicle of some sort (e.g. train)
I'll probably edit this later with more specific stuff, but for now:
- I think XIII will be better received in general than Versus. Versus will temporarily be a lot more popular in general around it's release, but after that dies down XIII will be held higher than Versus. (as an average)
- Xbox version will be on three discs.
- Versus will have a near simultaneous international release (all regions within about a month of each other). Maybe in late 2010?
Scenario situation:
1) Versus sells under 2 million units over the course of a year or so
2) FFXIII is released in North America in mid 2010 (around June)
3) FFXIII sales are higher on the 360 than the PS3
If all of these are true, Square Enix will release Versus on the 360. I have my doubts that all of these will be true, but if they are, Xbox gets Versus.
Prediction! Butterflies are important imagery/symbol in the compilation.
From here...
The butterfly is a reminder to make changes when the opportunity arises. Change and transformation are inevitable for us all, but it does not have to be traumatic.
How'd you pick out the butterfly bit? That's interesting though.
There are wings on Sazh's buttons, the Asian Girl supposedly has a butterfly tattoo, and as I was watching a FFvs trailer, the swords spread out behind him and I was like BAM. BUTTERFLY. (Lol... Noctykins is a beeeauuuutiful butterfly)
They have a lot of symbolism, in cultures across the globe. If I was a game designer, I'd use em XD;
