As you all know, a female protagonist has been confirmed, but almost nothing has been said about her. Any ideas?
Before I knew that she would be a) parallel to the King, and b) his childhood friend, I always envisioned that she would be the exact opposite of him -- white-haired, dark skin, gentle eyes, but fighting on the side of the soldiers that constantly attack the King, so she would be clad in that medieval armor. I even tried drawing her!
But, now that we know a + b, none of those things could be true. Unless, of course, she turns traitor and fights on the other side. OR, wouldn't it be tragic if the entire city turned against the King? That probably wouldn't happen, but then again, you're talking to a person who thinks the crystal will ultimately be the villain in the story. The female protagonist, though, must be one tough girl in order to have put up with the King's constant killing throughout his life -- and THAT is precisely what I'm afraid of. We already have little miss Cloudina (okay, LIGHTNING) over here that thinks she's so amazing in FFXIII. We don't need another character like that -- or, at least, I hope not, because I'll go absolutely insane. (She's one of the three reasons why I hate FFXIII already.)
In any case, sorry for the long post, but let's discuss!

Only neat thing you said was having the kingdom turn on the main character. Kind of like Suikoden one and two.
Well, i think that the heroine should be a bright and optimistic character, but also someone who's brave and loyal I've tried to imagine her...i came up with the fair hair idea too..but one of the ideas that most appealed to me was if the character had darkish hair, but bright, beautiful eyes. *having a fangirl melt-down XD* Do you think there's a possibility of romance in it? *dodges tomatoes being pelted her way* I mean, there has been in most other FF's, right?

Well, I'm not a fan of the Black skin White hair catorgory. It just makes them seem so fake. Those characters usually end up misplaced because they also are the only ones in the game(or if they are lucky their is another!). If you want fair hair it can always be a more natural color(black, brown, even a red).

So you want the same type of female leads we had for the past 12 games? I mean XII just tried to break out of that by making them more strong willed but I don't see how this girl can't be a total monster with altitude. Actually I would love that, we need a real bitch on our side. Would make the game more interesting.

Sry had to quote this...but umm didn't Tetsuya Nomura already confirm that there would be no love story in this game? I'm going to wait till I see a screenshot of her before I judge her...come on Square give us updates *shakes fist* <.<

When Tetsuya Nomura says that the female will be parellel with the versus guy, it doesn't mean that she will be on his side. You can be parellel with someone while growing up, parellel in interests, and then still be parellel in interests down the road and still be on opposite sides. Someone can be parellel to someone in many different ways.
I think she's going to have a childhood with the versus guy, but then be on opposite sides. Also, they say that there won't be any romance in Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but it could still have a reference that they love each other, but they can't be together because they're on opposite sides of this war. If my theory is correct, then they could still be in love with each other, but there won't be any romantic scenes. Kinda sad really. They love each other but can't be together. That would be interesting. Then maybe one of them has no choice but to kill the other one at the end of the game. They did say that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is going to be very sad as well. This wouldn't be the first time a main character dies. Hence, Aerith in Final Fantasy VII.

Not being able to love eachother is just to corny.
I'm more interested in playing both sides of the fence and seeing what provokes them to break the treaty. Have me kill my own soldiers by playing the "enemy". Make all my work be a lie and have me die for a false cause.

I think she is going to be a cheerful girl with a very innocent look. I meant... completely opposite to the main character (the King). Actually I was thinking about "Rinoa" in FF VIII because the male character is somehow similar to Squall , I would say, though Squall seems to be friendlier than the versus King ^^.
Uhm... about her background... I hope she's a spy from the enemy and will be captured (alive) by his guards or something like that. I don't think she's going to be a princess or anything with that high status. A normal girl would be just fine ^^ and...err.. good at fighting/shooting or martial arts. I don't want her to be a useless girl like "Rinoa" (I hate Rinoa)
I wonder if there is any Love in this game. I hope so 'cuz all of the FF games I have been playing so far... there's always romance in the plot.
(Wonder how the versus King is going to kiss the girl ^^)

That cannot be!!! Anyway, eventhough it's supposed a tragic. I hope there is ABSOLUTELY NO OPEN ENDING (or maybe lots of different endings for different levels is fine with me)!!! I hate the type of ending when they leave the rest to your imagination.
I don't want him to be dead at the end. What's the point if he's dead anyway? Who's gonna protect the crystal from OTHER enemies?
p/s: why are lots of games/novels/comics I consider to be FANTASTIC tragedies?????

Too badass to be in love with someone? I don't think that's realistic though...I'm not saying do a full blown romance because I do think that wouldn't fit the game very well, but 'badass' people have the same emotions as everyone else. More often than not, they just happen to be better at hiding them, or attempting to suppress them.
I think it would be cool if he tried to suppress romantic feelings, and then she dies, and he realizes how he actually felt. I'm a sucker for tragedies, lol-especially romantic tragedies. I would like to see romantic scenes...but I don't see how it could fit into this story, so I say go with the "I'm trying to be badass and strong and so I don't feel anything, despite the fact that I'm human. And OH shit, blah blah just died. I'm heartbroken. Now I'm angry. The end." lol...obviously not quite like that, XD
