Well an FFXIII blog on LiveJournal found out that the song is definitely Latin and they're trying to write out all the lyrics. I do wonder how soo many people know Latin though.
They teach it in several schools around where I live. My cousin used to learn but then the school dropped the course. I have some books that teach Latin as well but i fail at it.
I love the song, it almost made me cry (it is really moving).
I also was looking into learning latin. it sounds beautiful
(i'm such a softheart though,lols)

can someone who makes sense of it PLEASE give us a bit info about the songs meaning - it wouldn't have to be precise. i just want to know is there anything about the "mr. no socks" or the plot hidden in it.
Personally - when I first heard it I thought because I expected something loud and harsh but after hearing it many times it started to fit with it. Maybe all the action movies have brain washed me and I think "bang bang BOOM" is the only way.
When i done the translation of the song this is what i got (bear with me im no latin expert)
From the first verse
te-they/thyself
2nd word unknown
et-and/also
liberi-Children?
5th word unknown
faciunt-(could mean either)>>commit/cause/create
Numquam-at no time/never
excit-send for/summon
2nd verse
Omnium-everything?
dividit-seperate/divide
Tragoedia-Tragedy
prorum-clear? (when i listened again i thought it was said as coram instead which means face to face or you could say against)
amando-send away/banish
quae-(can mean either)>>which, what, that e.g WHAT cannot be avoided must be endured.
3rd verse( this verse is sung when versus guy starts walking down stairs and soldiers get ready to shoot)
Et-and
nocte-night
perdere-destroy
tua-your
^^^And to destroy at night
And one word i thought i heard before he summoned his swords was omniver which means bearing everything.

OMG!! that's awsome the last sentenc is just..........***faint*** KYA!!! WHAT A darkness!!
Except for Suteki de na from FFX and the Gackt songs in Dirge of Cerberus
They seem to have given up on the translation...can anyone else help?
They used to have the translations on dirgeofcerberus.net......Yup They still do. They also have Longing translations. But I don't know how accurate they are cause I don't speak Japanese.
The lyric is so sad and dark... It suits the trailer and the character so much ><
I heard that the one who composed the lyric knows nothing about Latin grammar or sth like that. T__T Kinda disappointed when I heard that.
However, I like the melody and her voice ^^. All of FF's theme songs are so cool ><
They say the lyrics has something to do with a tragedy of the main character and how he has to face some punishment with the soldiers. Also, something about children's groans. Check out a video with the translations. I think there is one on IGN.com.

you may be refering to a video on youtube with the translation.
The one_neo bahamut from ffxii.net and me done our best at translating the lyrics from the trailer.
then i subbed the trailer with the translation and put it onto youtube-be aware thats the original fan made dubbed trailer on youtube but the translation isnt exact but its accurate
Heres the first ever dubed version made by me-but the quality isnt perfect (also credits to the one_neo bahamut)
