Would you pay to see ACC in theatres?

Say a miracle happened and Steven Spielberg got linked to SQEX through EA after watching the original AC in his spare time. At this Private Party coming up it was announced that he would produce a theatrical release of Advent Children COMPLETE before it hit Blu-ray.

Would you go see it?

Bare in mind there are rumours going around that it will have a minimum of 30 minutes of new footage as well as scene changes.

Well I don't see why it would have to go through Steven Spielberg to get shown in theatres but yes I'd pay to see it.

I wouldn't wanna pay to see it at all cuz movies that started from games should be watched only at home where we sit on our butts, playing games!! We gamers barely get sunlight as it is lmfao

Nah... I'd rather download it before its release and send Square a check than hear kids yell advice at the screen and imitate Cloud with a paper Buster Sword.

Well my point was really the name for the people who DON'T play games.

Imagine if AC had Spielberg's name on it. The mass media would have been all over it saying, "It puts Pixar to shame" and stuff like that.

Having his name on ACC, even just as Producer, would be really big. It may even land ACC an Oscar nomination due to how big his name is. I mean, epic real-looking animation that is WAY better than Pixar and Dreamworks plus Spielberg's name just equals at least one Oscar nomination.

I love seeing films in the cinema, but I hate going by myself and I doubt I'd be able to get anyone to go with me. I couldn't go by myself. Not to mention how expensive it is now. I'd download it.

This thread is slowly getting dumb with the Spielberg thing. What'd they do with Spirits Within? It was big with the Final Fantasy name but went down fast by not being related to the games. Would Spielberg ever make a movie like AC without his usual merit?

The point I want to make is his name as a selling point for non-gamers. It will pull in people that don't play games and having his name on it and the realistic animation with stunning stunts would really get it mainstream attention I feel.

But more importantly think what it could do for SQEX? As soon as they land an Oscar for this movie or even get Spielberg to Produce ACC they will officially have broken into the mainstream US movie industry.

They will be on par with Pixar and Dreamworks by brand name. Whenever they release a movie it will have "From the creators of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" on the box. People will remember how Spielberg produced that and how it won an Oscar and go see it straight away. Eventually the SQUARE ENIX brand will get memorized too. Then after this Nomura drops the bomb and announces that KHIV is a movie!

Seriously, If SQEX get Spielberg to Produce ACC they are officially in Hollywood. I just hope EA have linked them both up by now...

Haha, no, I wouldn't pay the ridiculous amount of money it is to see a movie now a days, and certainly not this one. My 32" flat screen HDTV will suffice. It may not be a home theater, but it's better than what I had and I can live with that.

I think the thing to remember is that this is a "What if" question. Realisticly this could never happen, but if it did it would probably do really well due to Spielbergs massive fanbase.

----There's no emotional value in AC at all for the nongamers. D; Unless they're fans of action, I don't think the nongamers would even know what's going on. The most memorable part of the movie would probably only be when Tifa lectures Cloud. I'm thinking this from a once-movie-fan view.

I don't think a film would be nominated for an Oscar purely for the fact that it has a famous director attached to it who didn't do anything with the film aside from stick his name on it. If AC was good enough to win an Oscar it would do that all by itself.

Tell me about it in terms of English script...

But really, this film has an amzing feel but the choices for the English script are terrible. Somes scenes are so emotional yet because of the words they chose for the English dub they come off so flat. I have some examples I'll post soon.

I don't think so. I think having a well known Director on this film just by name only will get it mass media attention before release. Something AC could never hope for due to the background of the film. At the LA premier of AC all the voice actors of the film kept saying "It has a cult following. I hope they like it.". You know the word "cult" just shows that AC was nothing but an art house effort for a small selection of people. Yet in Japan, Shinji Hashimoto was saying that the movie surpassed expectations and that families were buying it and watching it together, even some that had never played a Final Fantasy game.

Having Spielberg on it would get it recognised like the best of Pixar and Dreamworks in the US and Europe I think.

Steven Spielburg wouldn't be my first choice to make the movie, but I guess he might be good, but I'd still see it no matter who made it. And w/ S.S. directing it it would become even more overrated.
