Normally this is a minor problem. Only one or two in ever ten new members have trouble with this rule and it is frequently a one-off, didn't understand. However, lately, I seem to be spending all my time on these forums merging posts because some members seem to have either 1. not read the rules, 2. not understood them or 3. chosen to ignore them.

Double posting is where you post, and then immediately post again without a third party coming in and replying beforehand. You thus have two posts in a row in a topic. The only circumstances in which this is permissable are when the topic is a higly personal gallery/story/etc., when weeks (not hours) or months have passed and you have something new to say to reignite the discussion, or when brand spanking new information has just emerged.
As I said earlier, normally this isn't a problem and I'm happy to overlook it, but it has recently got out of hand. So, for those who don't know, double posting is baaaaad. If you have forgotten to say something in your initial post, there's this FANTASTIC little option that allows you to add new information to your post. It's called the Edit button and it can be found at the bottom of all your posts. Use it, it won't bite. If you wish to quote more than one person, use the Multiquote button to select all the posts you want and the click Post Reply at the bottom of the page. If you wanted to quote someone in your initial post, use a clever combination of the Edit button, quote tags and copying and pasting.
To all members, new or old, who do follow the rules, thank you. To those who haven't (and if you're wondering how to tell; if, at the bottom of two or more of your posts you find a little message in italics saying 'last edited by Whiplash [Date], Reason: double posting' or something similar, I'm talking to you), I will not tolerate it any longer. No more leniency, you will be warned if you continue to do this. If it's accidental, there's a delete post option or at least edit your last post telling me that it was an unintentional error. You have no more excuses. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse in any jurisdiction, but normally I feel nice.
Also, if you did this out of ignorance of the rules; WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING? READ THE GODDAMN THINGS WHEN YOU JOIN!!! NOT THAT THIS IS A PARTICULARLY UNIQUE RULE, IT'S EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET!!!!!! Apart from that, provided you read and follow them from now on, no hard feelings!

Some people easily double post since they think they have forgotten to mention something in their previous post, neglecting the Edit button and just jamming another post right after it thinking it cannot be harmful since they don't do it that often.
THINK AGAIN! *points finger* .. You better use that damn edit button the next time you post or there will be hell to pay. Whiplash will whip you.. why else do you think that's her name?!

Sorry for my triple posting. At first it was just to catch up since it took me a while to notice my thread was moved. Then I completely forgot about the double posting rule and unintentionally made 3 posts in a row. Since joining this community a few days ago, I never posted before or even knew about the common rules. I did read the rules ( & I did seriously read it when I joined) but I guess I didn't take everything into account too well. Sorry guys. I'll try my best to not overlook these basic rules. ´_¡
I don't know if its just me when using my PSP to post but I eventually run out of space / characters to type in so i'm pretty limited and hav to make decisions on going around my posting. But unless I didn't realize that I double posted because of a space issue, then I wouldn't intentionally double post.

----Hey hey! I go on the forums with my Mobile sometimes and with the new layout, it's a dream to moderate with even when I have a smaller character limit.
Recent problem for me right now would have to be the "I agree with you" posts that just stand alone.

----Yeah. I can use either AOL, Yahoo!, MSN, and Google browsers. With this new layout, man, it's gotten easier to keep up day to day. Kinda easier on my eyes too when I spot a double-, triple- post so I'd be on it. And my phone's ancient too. D;
