OK, here's what I think will be the scenario for FFXIII.

I'll say it now that this will be my first and only topic on this subject so people that are not feelin' the idea can rest easy. Anyway let's begin.

First off the part of the story that is already confirmed by SQEX:

A Crystal represents Cocoon (the floating utopia) and another represents Pulse (the lush land below). Both Crystals decide the destinies of their inhabitants before they are born. Lightning is from Cocoon but for some weird reason the Crystal of Cocoon has given her the destiny of "Destroying Cocoon". The government of Cocoon are very extreme in terms of protecting Cocoon and exile anybody who they believe to be contaminated with the outside world to Pulse.

So the player controls Lightning and tries to accomplish this goal and to quote Motomu Toriyama, “During the early parts of the game the player will question if what they are doing is right or not.”

OK, now here’s where I want it to go from here. This is my brief take on the possible scenario:

Eventually 20 hours into the game Lightning says, "So that's why I have one..."

It turns out her Father was from Cocoon and her Mother from Pulse. The Crystals from Cocoon and Pulse decide the destinies for the inhabiting people before they are born but because she was the only ever mixed person her destiny got mixed up. The Crystal from Cocoon had her destined to be a man who would be a confident and very powerful soldier for the Cocoon army but the one from Pulse had her destined to be a woman who would be beautiful and yet very virtuous and kind. She also discovers that both her parents were brutally tortured and executed by Cocoon’s government when their relationship got discovered. They managed to hide Lightning and she was raised by her father’s sister who kept her identity a secret.

To make things worse for her, the Crystal of Pulse had given her the destiny of “Protecting Cocoon”. This is the exact opposite of the destiny she was given by the Crystal of Cocoon which she had been trying to accomplish for the first 20 hours of the game.

Realising all this Lightning becomes depressed like Cloud in AC as she doesn’t know what to do and which destiny to fulfil. Should she be a man and fulfil her destiny given to her by Cocoon or be a woman and fulfil the destiny given to her by Pulse? She begins to think she is a freak and that her parents mixed relationship has resulted in her dual gender and her destiny getting completely ****ed up. She gets close to a Black female party member called Aquarium during the game and she is the only one Lightning really opens up her feelings to.

Roll in the famous AC scene in that dark room but this time in a dark room in place on Pulse:

Aquarium: You have two destinies don’t you? So you’re not going to fulfil either, is that it?

*Silence*

Aquarium: So it is…

Lightning: I don’t know which one I should fulfil.

Aquarium: Yeah but don’t give up on both. Let’s work together, we can find out which one is the right one, I know we can! But I guess that’s something that will be difficult to figure out…

Lightning: Aquarium. I’m not in the position to fulfil anything. Not destroying Cocoon. Not protecting it. Nothing.

Aquarium: Dilly-dally, Shilly-shally.

It is eventually discovered that the government of Cocoon have prepared a canon of mass destruction that they plan to fire on Pulse that will completely destroy it and leave it a barren wasteland devoid of life and vegetation. They are doing this as an extreme way of preventing Cocoon being contaminated by the outside world. Hearing this, Lightning eventually comes to the decision to fulfil the destiny given to her by the Crystal of Cocoon and thus to destroy Cocoon.

Roll on another AC scene, this time the scene where Cloud arrives at the Bahamut Sin fight scene on Fenrir:

Lightning: The other party members are ready; they’re waiting at the inn.

Aquarium: *Nods*

Lightning: I think I have a purpose now.

Aquarium: *Surprised “WTF?” expression*

Lightning: I’ve chosen a destiny to fulfil.

Aquarium: *Biggest smile EVER!*

So Lightning begins to once again follow the destiny she was following for the first 20 hours of the game.

At this point in the game the main antagonist starts to get major screen time. He’s an incredibly rich person who refuses to follow the destiny given to him by the Crystals that involves “Becoming a charity worker and spending his money on the poor” and believes pre-destination strips humanity of the choice to do what they want in life. He makes it his destiny to “Destroy the Crystals”.

Lightning and her party stop the canon but don’t destroy it. After doing this they realise that Cocoon has completely changed in a split second. It turns out that the main antagonist has destroyed the Crystal which has affected everything in Cocoon. The main antagonist then becomes almighty like a God and has acquired all the powers of the Crystal of Cocoon. He completely takes over Cocoon and kills the whole government but his powers have no affect on Pulse. He makes his own laws and everyone must follow them. People also must not follow their destinies but do what ever the **** they want now.

Lightning and co return to Pulse and start hunting for the Crystal of Pulse to protect it and ensure this person doesn’t find it before they do. Upon reaching it the Crystal speaks to Lightning calling her by the name Zarathustra which is in fact her real name. It tells her that she has two destinies deliberately and what they really are.

Instead of Cocoon Crystal saying, “Destroy Cocoon” and Pulse Crystal saying “Protect Cocoon”, it was in fact Cocoon Crystal saying, “Destroy the city of Cocoon” and the Pulse Crystal saying “Protect the people of Cocoon”.

It also tells her the meaning of Zarathustra is “From the voice of both Crystals”.

Zarathustra and the party move the Crystal to a secret location and then go off to their last battle in Cocoon. Once they beat the main antagonist he transforms into a God like form and they fight him again. When they beat him they begin to find a way to make the place explode as without no Crystal there is little point for the place existing and it’s already pretty much ****ed as it currently is. They realise a way and they then begin evacuating people to Pulse. When everyone including the party is down on Pulse they remote detonate the Bomb only to find nothing happen. Zarathustra says she’s going back alone to see what’s going on.

Aquarium says she’s going too but Zarathustra tells her to stay. Aquarium promises her to come back in one piece to which Zarathustra nods and smiles and says “Of course.”

When she reaches Cocoon she meets the main antagonist waiting for her and he has launched the canon that was aimed at Pulse and it will fire soon. This leads to an EPIC battle taking place all over Cocoon much like the Sephiroth and Cloud fight that took place all over Midgar at the end of AC. What makes this fight even more badass is that the main antagonist can control everything in Cocoon so he’s like using his powers to throw buildings and Sky scrapers at Zarathustra.

Zarathustra wins eventually and starts to try and turn off the canon but the main antagonist had used his God like abilities over Cocoon to prevent it from being turned off and there are 10 minutes till it fires. The only way to stop the Canon would be to blow up Cocoon now. Zarathustra then begins to think what to do and thinks about her destinies and how she is so close to fulfilling both of them.

Zarathustra says, “My destiny is to destroy the city of Cocoon and protect the people of Cocoon. If I blow myself up with Cocoon I will both destroy Cocoon and also protect the people of Cocoon who are now down on Pulse from the Canon that is about to fire.”

She comes to the conclusion that she should go down with Cocoon. The people on Pulse suddenly see Cocoon explode and Aquarium is like “WTF? But Zarathustra is not back yet.”

After a few hours she still doesn’t show and Aquarium realises she is not coming back and burst into tears. Everyone on Pulse is shocked she could do something like that especially her party members. She becomes an honoured hero and people see her as a “Chosen Hero” and “Special” seeing as she was given destinies from both Crystals and was also not a single gender.

Time passes and Cocoon becomes a memory and all the people of Cocoon have now mixed in with the people of Pulse. The Crystal of Pulse has now become the single Crystal that creates every new born persons destiny seeing as everyone now lives on Pulse.

Over centuries the name Zarathustra becomes a legend and becomes the name of biggest city of Pulse which also has a huge 110 feet statue of her erected in her honour.

It's, uh, interesting. The little bits of dialogue as description doesn't help very much.

LOL! Yeah I figured some people would be like "WTF?" when they read it but that's exactly what I want from this game; a complete "WTF?" experience in terms of story. I'm going all out with the possibilities of what the scenario could be judging from what we know so far. I hope SQEX do the same and really do something daring.

Kazushige Nojima is not writing but I'm sure Motomu Toriyama will show us what he's got!

Only Lightning is confirmed but that is also confirmed to not be her real name. That's why I made up that her real name was Zarathustra.

Aquarium is completely made up by me in both name and character. I hope there is a Black female party member with baby blue hair in this game. Why does she have to have baby blue hair? I don't know, I just think she would look cool with it.

EDIT: Oh and the reason the names are in bold is to show it was separate from the actual scenario description and instead an actual conversation.

Only read half way through until my attention was drawn to my printer being a fag again.

Other than that, urg, it's relativly interesting for your asumptions.

Don't forget that the first boss fight is with a winged pig, Rapighael.

You should read all of it to get the full picture. But anyway, like I said I was taking the theme of Crystals to the extreme as I really want something "WTF?" worthy in this games story.

LOL! We all know the first boss has to be cool to excite the player and a flying pig is kinda well..."Meh". Unless it's made out of metal and can breath fire! That would be pretty epic!
