So at the moment in the UK the news is filled with all the crap about global warming, and the government is starting to think about putting a fucking tax on everything that might harm the environment. Petrol with have a tax, electrical appliances that arn't energy efficient will have a tax, cars with have (more) tax, ect.
Wait wait, so, the average hard-working family will have to pay about an extra... £1300 (about $1900 I think) in tax. Somehow I think this is just another way to get money out of people. I doubt that people in the cabinet and MP's will have to pay this tax like the rest of us, y'know, people that actually work hard and do their job.
I don't see the point in adding a tax to everything, when the problem is GLOBAL (this is why it's called GLOBAL warming, it's happening EVERYWHERE) which means that everyone around the world will have to help. I'm sorry if this insults any Chinese or American forum members/browsers, but China and America are the worst for pollution in the world, and I don't really see George Bush or the leader of China trying to do anything about it. From the looks of it George Bush is more concerned about terrorists and the war in Iraq. Yes, terrorists is also a problem, but in about 100 years they'll probably all be underwater. Maybe in America they should try walking down the street to the Mc. Donald's instead of getting in their 4x4 petrol guzzling jeep to drive there. China is probably worse though, as there is still smog (smoke from factories) in the cities and the water has so many chemicals in that it's giving people cancer. If we need to stamp out global warming, everyone has to do it. Not just odd countries. Adding taxes will most likely only get our country into debt.
Amother thing: What about all the money Hollywood and the big companies are making? Are they donating any money? It makes me laugh thinking about how maybe someone like Paris Hilton would wonder about pissing some more of her fortune away on a pair off $1000 shoes, where that money could go towards helping fight global warming. Big industries and companies are making vast ammounts of profit a year (wasn't SE's profit about $200,000?) and I guess it would be a bit of a help if they contributed. Shouldn't people that are just generally well-off should be helping too? It seems as though the goverment just plans on giving working class people the tax, from what I've heard and read.
One more thing... Why not just out-right BAN some things to help? Why not stop marketing non-energy efficent products so there wouldn't even have to be a fucking tax? Wouldn't that save a whole lot of money? But then again I guess the companies are more concerned about profit, and the government more concerned about getting there hands on our money, yet again.
I don't know about other countries, but in the UK I think we already have enough tax to pay. There's council tax (and around here it dosn't do much, basically we're paying someone to sit on their ass and make a few phone calls) general bills, poll tax, and also charges for congestion ect. It costs £5 ($8 I think) just getting into London, this dosn't include finding parking or anything, that's just for the privaledge of going into the city centre. So basically we pretty much have to pay for the privaledge of doing anything. Freedom my fucking ass.
Sorry if this post offended anyone mebbes <3 Freedome of e-speech.
I heard England, more so London is very Foggy because of pollution around the time of the big factory boom during your industrial revolution. Is that correct?
Not offending at all. Now, one thing will happen for sure. Oil will end. Done, our worst enemy in global warming. All those stupid cars that people love to burn around with will stop. US will flame one of the future presidents for oil tax when they can't see them self that the golden age of gas has ended.
Now, two thing will happen. All cars will use hydrogenor something close to it. Then the electricity to create it will be free energy and nuclear power. Yes NUCLEAR!!! 4 generation of atomic power will be totally safe and create less pollution. It will even recycle old atomic waste. It will be used all over the world, just you wait.
Sony is in deep shit at the moment so I don't think they donate much these days. Microsoft and bill are nutso and donate lots of millions if i remember right. Support Microsoft lol! Now, Hollywood give some I think (don't know anything if its good or bad) Superstars donate a solid part of their income I think.
Global up warming is over hyped. It gets warmer yes. One degree every 50 years too! You know what! It goes uP AND DOwn during the millions of year. The dinosaurs had global warming. And I'd like to see a t-rex in his wagon. Human is one of reasons we get faster global warming. It would happen anyway. As long as we save the ozon layer we should be fine.
Now, the most dramatic thing in the next 30-60 years is the lack of oil. Everything will restart with new free energy. Oil has saved the humans and given us a gigantic leap economic for some countries. Now, before it was much more slavery, thirst and hunger around the world. Now we need to get these people into school. You see the change? Donation has given help to people. It works! The still need lots of help, but they are in a better situation then before.
Our enemies now are Aids/hiv and war. Good job getting those medicines down there, but we need a lot more, the Pope need to understand that condoms ain't that bad (so more African people will use it against aids) and bush... your not f'''' helping at all.
Meltdown of poles: Yes it will happen. Yes, Venice will sink and all those islands. No, we will not only see the top of the liberty statue hand. It will "only" be a couple of meters, and it will happen over a long time.
Taxes? Bring em on. At the end it will only be the good for the people. It's not like the government use it on them self. We have HUGE taxes in Norway, and I feel so safe thanks to it. No matter how deep shit I will come into, I will always get help. It feels so good.
Well thats my opinion. Flame me if you want to.

That was some 65 years ago.
I don't have a problem paying taxes, as long as they do something. I just don't have much faith in them as in my area we pay a very high council tax and poll tax and I never see much being done to the area. When the grass is cut the clippings are just left everywhere and they rot. There's graffiti in the bus shelters and the windows have been smashed. The roads have old tarmac with loads of bumps and have weeds growing by the pavement. It seems like all the money we pay is going nowhere. In a park not far from where I live the spent £10,000 ($15,000) for this stupid little shelter, as it's made out of 'long lasting fibres'. IT'S JUST ABIT OF BLUE PLASTIC AND METAL. HOW DID THAT COST £10,000?
There's graffiti in the bus shelters and the windows have been smashed.
That got nothing to do with taxes. That just the general people being stupid.
Thing cost money. But Id should been cheaper if it was bought in larger packs instead of one.
Whats the need of that shelter?

What I mean is that the tax money we pay should go towards helping keeping the area tidy. That is what are council tax is supposed to be for. When things are left like that, the council are not doing their job.
The need of the shelter is that when it's raining people can go in there if they're waiting for a bus
Only one thing to do. Get the neighborhood on a huge clean up job for one hour. Write it in a clear text you want some hard work for one hour at some date you decide. Write lots of how much we can do and what we can do. Buy the plastic trash bags and tell people you will buy one time plastic gloves too. Have the date at spring and make sure everybody knows of it one month before. Leave the posters up, and do a good job to take them down when its over.
Lets estimate. Write a letter 30 Minutes. Get bags gloves at store for everyone. Cost you some cash. Print and post it up in clear visible places where people walk. Make a good huge title on them. 30 minutes.
Talk to people about in during the mount to make sure people gets excited about it and feel shame about them self if they miss it.
Be the first one to deal out the bags and gloves. Help cleaning up. 90 minutes.
So, if you use 2 n' half hour to get people on it, they will help clean up. Its so easy, its just to do it. Nothing else. If you do everything else, they will help you clean up. People are easy to command. (yes, command and order) If you just do it in a good way and ahead of time, they will come like headless chicken. I do it all the times at the school. Go around. Ask people. Put up posters. Get people into activity. Its so friggin easy to do so. All you need it to prepare stuff, and the rest will come.
Do it, I mean it. Give it a shot. It cost you some money, some time. But you will get what you want. If you see someone on their ass, go talk to them, be nice. Talk about the weather while you clean up around them and ask them to continue.
It is so funny when people are following your orders if you put the words the right way.

a pretty good proof now is that Norway (pretty much snow up here in the winter) will be moslty without snow, mountains and northen parts exceptioned. but I say a pretty good proof. '87 or '88, it was about no winter-snow in norway. and dinosaurs could have made their own little global warming, as they walked around farting like sheeps on new zealand, or so I have heard.
Pop was working with electric cars until recently, wich is most likely to sell big in the upcoming year, as gasoline-cars can cost almost $14000 more than diesel cars, wich has taxes enough from before. the car he was working with is a tiny alomst squared one called Kewet. and believe me, a new car here costs about $60.000 on basic models, with taxes. a new kewet won't cost more than 25.000 at most. the only drawback is the distance they can drive before recharging, but they get to drive in the bus-lanes, wich is really handy in the morning rush.
and with bus-shelteers, the most important thing is that the roof is still there...
