At some recent Microsoft thingy, Square announced that Star Ocean: The last hope (fucking corny name) will be coming to Xbox 360 in 2009.
They would be fucking foolish to release that exclusively for Xbox 360, but since it was an MS thing they obviously didn't mention PS3. We'll see, but tbh I don't really care about Star Ocean, never did. Never will be.

This is terrible. I wanted it for PS3. It was like, one of the only RPG's I was looking forward too. >_>
And I agree Nero, I bet they would make more money releasing it for PS3.

Well the prologue of the trailer starts " AD 2064 humanity made it's third and most costly mistake: WWIII. Now there only hope after they have destroyed earth is to venture out into space. I though the title was fitting after watching the trailer. And yes I think this is stupid. Now you know that if Microsoft got it exclusive they would throw it in your face even if it was a timed exclusive. "OMG TEH STAH OSHEN FOW EXLUSIVE!!! WE GOT IT CUZ WE PAID AND YOU DIDN'T" (yes, im bitter so what?) i am almost positive they would do that if it was exclusive, a title that has had such a fan base in the playstation community. thats the only hope i have now
EDIT: I just noticed..... Where are the freakin RPGs for the PS3 ?
They are slowly being taken by M$. But its not totally their fault. Se insists on making WESTERN RPG's. So they figure, they should release those on 360 I assume.
I know XIII will be good, but I need more then one bloody RPG in 5 years. D8
Anyone else feel like this is a slap in the face to PS3 owners. I mean releasing on the 360 is all well and good but come on. Release it for the PS3 as well. "We can say that it will be released first on the Xbox 360. Whether we'll release it on the PS3 is undecided. We may release it, we may not." - Yoshinori Yamagishi. Um do you realize that every game in the series before then has been on a Playstation brand console?? Go ahead release it on 360, I think it needs some good RPG's it's not fair to have them all go to Playstation, obviously. But I mean release it on PS3 too, I don't even think that you would have to wonder if it's worth it or not. Why not? What do they have to lose besides getting many fans very angry?
I know Mass Effect is good which is why I didn't re-list it, however I have only heard a little bit about Lost Odyssey, and most of what I heard has been bad. But anyway, what I meant is the Playstation brand has many more RPGs than the Xbox brand does.

Even if it has more, they are non-existent on Ps3, only on ps2. >_>
Hooboy. I'm really burned that SO4 is SUPPOSEDLY exclusive. I know it's still tentative, but still, I'd have to suspect that it'll at least be on the 360 first and foremost, and for a long time post-term. If it ever actually sees a PS3 release, I'd be ecstatic, but at this point Squenix is about as hard to read as Bangali, so I have no effing clue.
I'm really irritated at the fact, though. It's not like it's SE's fault; tri-Ace is trying to branch out to the 360, and I don't see many plausible reasons - unless it's just the fact that they feel developing for the PS3 would lose them money in the long term, which is, well, reasonable to believe. The PS3 STILL isn't seeing the sales that evereyone wants, and it's mostly because of the two BIG factors of 1) costs and 2) developing difficulties brought on by hardware. In all, I'd say the PS3 is something a bit too... daunting, maybe, for tri-Ace to tackle, because believe it or not they're still pretty much underground compared to their parent publisher SE. This is the only logical explanation I can come up with - they just don't have the resources to develop for the PS3. Suffice to say, this comes to most tA fans (well, me, at least) as a huge disappointment, but if you look at it coherently it at least seems reasonable. And hell, it'll at least help push M$-boxes out of Japanese shelves. Even still, it feels a bit like we're being abandoned. I know I originally wanted a PS3 because I believed that most, if not all of the big RPG titles would be released for it, because that's been Sony's trend in the past and I don't see them relinquishing one of their biggest cash-cow genres quite so soon.
In the end, though, I'd say most RPG devs will slowly shift toward the Box more in the near future, but we'll definitely start seeing good RPG titles for Sony's piano brick (*COUGHFF13COUGH*) later down the road. And that's logical, at least IMO.
