Right in both trailers we have seen both of the main characters use their unique weapon/weapons.
What im asking is is i mean how the hell do we upgrade? like Lightnings weapons just seems to kick ass and "Versus" guy just has load, will there be addons or will summons affect the use of the sword and such.
Probably lvl ups and status bonus/enhancements. They might make it like Parasite Eve where you can upgrade your weapon, but I'm sure each game will have it's respective weapon upgrading system.
Like most RPG's, I doubt the weapons will be as powerful as they are in the FMVs. Either that or it will be the cliché "Oh no! I lost my super fighting abilities so let's train to get them back again!" story.

I dunno about that. If they are speeding up the ATb system to the max, that means even if they are weak, it would seem stronger due to the shortened battle times.
Plus, Maybe they will be that powerful anyway. And you might have to use actual *gasp* counters and dodge's.
I think they might prefer upgrades thn switching weapons. Wouldn't wanna see them using Launchers instead of the usual. It will really crash it all up. I 2nd that weapon upgrading. Just hope they don't end up like Atelier Iris 2 where the weapons are upgraded but when during battle it looks the same as the default even if the weapon upgrade screens shows that it changed.

Oh god yeah i hate that when you equip new items or clothing looks different out of battle but the same in thus rendering it pointless outside of battle, its bizarre.
...and it is not bizarre that they look different in battle but same outside of battle? even more so that most of the time the weapons go to subspace.
Personally I hope they stay with a XII system of having shops (especially main hubs) update their wares as the game goes on if they don't go with a upgradeable system(FFVIII's blew). It irks me so much that the town after the next dungeon would have better equipment even though they are some damn backwater hicks with no ways of weapon production or trade. Why is that even still used in games in this day and age? The only excuse could be government control over what is sold (doesn't stop underground groups) and that still doesn't explain about how some loser shelter town sells darksteel blades.

I think that each shop should sell your basic weapon, may it be wooden, steel, iron, etc. And then each type has certain properties that set it apart from others, and then you can customize each weapon as you progress through the game.
then, you can actually use any weapon you want in the beginning, and then each weapon will be useful in certain situations, and then MAYBE you won't have to spend countless hours just trying to get enough gil to buy one damn item.
I think I am sorta thinking like KOTOR II's lightsaber customization. They were all pretty much the same, except the kind it was (single or double blade) but the components you put in it made it "special."

That was a nice system actually. And it be nice to see it done in more games. Lets you find a weapon you like, keep it and just upgrade the components.
