I pre-ordered my copy of 13 on amazon a while ago. I got this email at 2:09 EST, its likely speculation on their part, but I imagine any news is good news since we've not heard anything new for months.

Quote:

*****
WHY WAS THE DELIVERY ESTIMATE CHANGED?
While we do our best to adhere to these estimates, our inventory is constantly
changing based on information we receive directly from our suppliers. Occasionally,
unexpected fluctuations in supply or changes in release dates for new products will
add time to our original availability estimate.

*****
WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE OR CANCEL MY ORDER?
You can always check on your order by clicking on Your Account at the top
of any Amazon.com page. Once there, choose "Open and Recently Shipped Orders."

*****
WHAT IF AN ITEM HAS SHIPPED AND I NO LONGER WANT IT?
If your shipment arrives too late, you may either refuse delivery or return
it to us for a refund. For returns instructions, please visit our Returns
Center at www.amazon.com/returns.

*****
HOW DO I CONTACT YOU ABOUT MY ORDER?

Stfu Cathryn, I care >: (

It is interesting that they mention the publisher changing the date this time. They could just be saying it's Square-Enix but maybe they have been given a vague date such as 2009. Still, let's wait to see if anywhere else changes their dates,

So only after the release date does an announcement/change of release date "matter"? I smell poor logic. I understand that it's gonna be changed over and over again until it's finally out, but "fuck you man" isn't the correct response.

No, after an official announcement. Amazon and all other sites like that make up release dates almost all of the time.

Example: http://www.game.co.uk/PS3/Action/FirstPersonShooter/~r333682/Killzone-2/

Killzone 2 (PS3)

Release Date: 01/02/2009
Pre-order
278 days to go!

I doubt anyone meant to offend you, but we get one of these threads like, every week.

Ah, i didn't realize. I'd never gotten mail from amazon like this though, and I've had the game ordered since it went up on the site. Im just surprised that they can get away with saying that the publisher changed the release date if that isn't the case. Please note that they did say that their previous date (that was listed when I first ordered it) was an "estimation".

That doesn't appear to be the case here.

The only logic there is we can all mostly agree with is that it will be released someday. It'll be released eventually.
