View Poll Results: Should the minimum post length be increased?
I'm sick to death of seeing replies that are only there to build up peoples posts, the stupid replies of '' oh great, thats nice'' it has absolutely no meaning in a response to a topic. I therefore make this poll to see if people think the minimum character response in a post should be raised from 10 to either 50 or 75 in every forum except the off topic forums. This way, the discussions and posts will be worth the look and not just random dumb replies where people agree with the post about and say ' yes i agree too''. Its boring reading the same dumb shit.
Oppinions please!

I think it's one of those 'really depends' kind of situations. If someone is obviously posting just to hike up their numbers, then sure, they should be reprimanded for not adding something valuable to the conversation. But there are times when you just don't have much to say [length wise] in terms of making a point. It's possible to say something incredibly meaningful in only a few words, which is why I think having a minimum character limit is kind of stupid, especially that small.
Typing a bunch of BS that doesn't really say anything in order to satisfy the limit can be just as bad as only typing a few words. It should probably be a matter left to the individual post. People should be on the look out for members who do that and report it. Although I know that doesn't happen all the time, and it can be frustrating for staff to keep up with every single occurrence. I can understand a reasonable number, but it shouldn't be something as high as 50. Still, I say don't go as far as setting up an automatic limit.
So people think that a crackdown on people posting shit would be much better than a limit, i think that seems like a pretty good idea. How about.. we make a thread and then users can post the link to the post and then obviously the user that posted it can be dealt with, this could also work for other things like bashing and spamming etc. Thoughts?

Unfortunatly that isn't possible. The limit will only apply to all forums and can't be changed on specific ones. That's why the last discussion about this stopped.
If people want to crack down on small pointless posts then I advise you use the Report Post button so we can deal with it.
I can already name a few memebers who are culpits>>>so to save embarrasement their names are undisclosed.Inducing a minimum message length could be good but I'd rather identify the posts and hightlight that their posts are useless.
'Oh thats nice'....'thats great'-these posts reduce variation and are fucking pointless.
If there are repeat offenders then report or infractions could be applied.
20 is nice, someone can still sum things up within one to two sentences and get their point across. I typically get annoyed by seeing post-count-raisers, so I was glad that there was a minimum when I joined this forums. You would not believe how many people would only post "lol" on other forums, jeesh.
