These clips from the English version of Crisis Core have been out for a week or so now, but nobodies made a thread about it so I thought I'd make one for those people who haven't yet seen them.
The clips include hearing the English voices of Cloud, Zack, Aerith, Tseng, Reno, Rude, Cissnei, Angeal, Lazard and Sephiroth.
I heard them a few days ago and they sound much better than I thought they would. Going from the Japanese to English voices in Advent Children sounded shit but these are much better. At least Aeris sounds like she's supposed to now...
Bleh. I gotta say I'm highly disappointed with the majority of these characters. And not because I heard the Japaneses version first, but because they just didn't do as much of a good job with the Compilation this time around. I mean, the game was amazing, I was really anticipating being able to play it in English, but after hearing the English VAs, I quickly changed my mind.
From the moment I heard Burton's voice as Cloud in Advent Children, it made me cringe. In my opinion, the guy is not suited well for the character one bit. Same with Sephiroth. He sounds old, way too old...and wrong.
Angeal is just as bad--wouldn't want to leave him out. There's also one thing I forgot to mention...script. Yeah, I can tell you guys are reading from one. What needed to happen was better direction, and people who actually know how to put emotion into their voice without sounding either over the top or like they're incredibly bored and would rather have a beer instead.
Lazard is kinda the same deal here....disappointing.
Reno, Rude I had gotten used to and are pretty okay. Since Cissinei had just been introduced, I still think she did an alright job.
There was one character that surprised me though--Aeris. I hated her in Advent Children, and she was up there on the VAs who did the worst job. But this time around something changed. I'm not saying she's great or anything though, just made a big improvement.
Basically, I'm probably not going to get the game, since I have it in Japanese and because the English version has proved to be rather sub-par. Then again, that's been the trend with this Compilation.

Possibly because it's a different VA Or it at least sounds like a different VA. That's the general belief anyway.
Personally I think the VA's are all excellent this time around.
Opinions are opinions. I don't compare voice actors to each other; I just compare voices to the situations at hand.

I played Vagrant Story and enjoyed FF Tactics. That is why I love FFXII.

I don't compare voice actors, even though I'm always accused of it in this case since I don't like the English VAs. However there are some cases I can think of that I prefer English over Japanese simply because I think they did just a fine job:
Fullmetal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop
Final Fantasy XII
It's not always a matter of hearing one thing first. In most cases I heard the Japanese first yet preferred the English. Crisis Core Japanese VA just happen to be a lot better.
