I dunno, it seems to vary. I thought the FFX and FFXII voices were quite bad in Japanese, but the FF7AC voices where loads better in Japanese for some characters (Aries).
Indeed.
FFX in Japanese where terrible.
Yet in most games the JP versions voices are alot better and suited.
As for Crisis Core, i'm not happy with the voice actors, i may just play it to understand what's being said in certain dialogue, then i'll just go back to my JP version only because the voice acting sounds ALOT better.

I agree... I like the FF7AC Japanese voices better, but I heard some of the FFX cutscenes in Japanese, and Yuna's voice just made me cringe ^^; I didn't really like the other voices either. ._.
I think Japanese and English can do as well as each other. In general, I think the Japanese have it down pat more often, but there are things that I just loved the English dubbing of more for whatever reason.
And lip synch can be fixed o.o; Although most of the time they don't bother. I believe they fixed it for FFX-2 main cutscenes...?
I don't think they do too badly with the English dub, although the first time I saw advent children it was with subtitles, and when I eventually bought the English language version I wasn't too impressed with some of the English voice work. With that said I think they got the English Sephiroth spot on.

In some games they adjust the lip animation to fit the english voices. The english Crisis Core clips are lip-synched to English, and the Kingdom Hearts games are always lip-synched to English as well.
I like Japanese voices because I think they sound more emotional, but I think it's always good to have English because you can convey a lot more accents, like British or Western American.
Rufus voice was also well done. The only ones I wasn't too happy with were Tifa, Cait Sith (what the hell was with the Scottish accent?) and two of the SHM - Yazoo and Kadaj (I think)

You are ninety five percent wrong. Other then Sephiroth (should use Lance Bass) the English voice actors are quite good and even better then their japanese counterparts. Zack alone shits all over papertowel in my nose JP Zack. Watch the scene "Angeal, I love you man!" Line of the year.
FFXII's voices were great. Real talent.
For Advent children I went half and half. I loved Kadaj, cait sith, and Red XIII, wasn't so happy with Aeris, Yazoo, and Tifa during a few parts.

i really loved cait sith english voice in dirge of cerberus , way better than JP one , blah at least for me.
y prefer english in games , just becoz i understand them , but i had seen AC in JP and y liked them though , but i still prefer english.
