So what is it then?
Like I’m sure that the 1st game we all played was not an RPG, let alone a Final Fantasy title, so what made us cling to this series.
The 1st game I played on a PS1 was Tekken 2… I was like wow this is amazing hahaha, then Pandemonium, remember that? One day I came across Final Fantasy 7 that a mate of mine lent me to have a go, at 1st I was lost, I had no clue what was going on, I pressed every button while in battle and the dude wouldn’t move, till I realised I had to command him to do stuff, and things started adding up slowly, but at 1st I actually hated the game… I had no clue how to play.
But them something hpn, I got stuck to it, always wanting to find out more about the story and what was about to hpn… became my fav game of all time, Final Fantasy 7 had a bit of everything, weapons, blood, friendship, etc.. it became so good, that I couldn’t think of any other game that could top it.
What I really like about Final Fantasy games is the adventure you embark on, the friends you meet that become my friends, the weapons you equip, the monsters you kill, a hole new world to explore last but not least the Characters that plot what most of time ends up being an amazing story that keeps your imagination flowing till you get to the ending credits.
I learned a lot from Final Fantasy games while growing up I can tell you that, I know it was bad, but it sort of was my alternative world, no one could possibly piss me off while I was playing FF.

haha neither did I have a clue ff8 was my first rpg...but I completed it ...after a few months.
What I love about ff is the possibility to visit all the places, rearrange your party the way you want, mess around the statistics, discover hidden nuances. All this apart from the great story and characters. Yep yep. I'm talking about ffVI-X
the first ff game i played was 7, before my causin brought it over i had never even heard of it. i was there watching him play i was like what the hell, this game is complicated lol. any the begining of the game it wsat get me in to it, it was like kind of epic running it to some reactor and planting a bomb, then up pops a timer and ur running for life, i will never for get that.
but what makes me want to play ff games is obviosly them most important part, the story. i luv the fact that u can level up ur characters and costmise ur players any way u see fit as long as u got the items or what ever. however it was limited to players ability type in some games which is a down point for me. i like the exsploration and finding new things such as weapons and rare magic. and ofcourse i like the battles and the epic boss battles aswell.
i cant think of what else, i cant say tha characters makes me want to play as most of them i get bored of.
The story is huge for me. I really love FF stories because they tend to leave a lot of room for doubt. I don't like characters that believe they're unconditionally in the right for no particular reason, so I had a great time playing as Cloud.
I also think the familiarity makes me like it. Not just the recurring things from game to game, but also the theme and plot elements borrowed from anime. Or maybe I just like the theme and plot elements because I like anime theme and plot elements, and it has nothing to do with reminding me of anime and more that I just like them. ^^;
For me Final Fantasy attracted me because it was a fantasy story game, when I first heard of it .When I've played 12 and 10 though,it was more than that.Even though Final Fantasy has cool monsters you fight, chocobos, moogles, and awesome summon designs, I loved the story (even 12's).It was different for me and IMO Final Fantasy has detailed and powerful stories (12 was such a detailed game IMO.Even though it was full of dialogue I couldn't understand yet I loved it ).
The graphics attract me aswell and lastly the characters and their designs.I personally think Lightning costume design is the best that Nomura ever made aside from Squall's and Cloud's.
Well yeah, the FF series sure as hell wasn't the first game I'd touched, but FF8 however was my first ever RPG - and first playstation game ever. Before that, I was still busy with 2D platform games like Earth Worm Jim and Super Mario Kart, so basically the jump was incredibly big for me and it had entirely changed my view and love for video games. The attraction inevitably started here.
I couldn't help but fall in love with it, despite me not being too partial with the plot itself. (I thought it sucked, to be honest) Till this day, after replaying it for a third time, I still don't get why Ultimecia wants to sit in her lonesome in Compressed Time, and Rinoa is still a spoiled twat who should be raped with a nail bat. But however weird this may sound, I had, and always will have, a conflicting appreciation for this game.
What also helped drive this love for FF in general, and have high hopes for other titles, was that I got FF7 right before I finished 8. Unlike 8 which was more about the graphics and music, FF7 contained everything else that made it such an enjoyable game. Much different from my usual genre, and drastically seducing me differently than 8, I enjoyed this game on a whole new level. Characters, Story, and a simple enough gameplay to master - even for idiots in video games (which was me at the time. Something to note, at the time I had problems with the 8 system. But now I think it's wicked). The music was a GREAT plus to it as well.
It's such a damn shame it's being wanked to death though.
Final Fantasy games attracts me. I still want to finish playing VIII and hopefully get my hands on IX. FFVII is a no for me, too lazy to find a reason.
The awesome weapons/skills and SOMETIMES the characters. I couldn't care less about the story as long as the game's got awesome looking weapons and characters.
"Listen to my story", durp :Ţ
My friend was always playing Final Fantasy when I came over, and I was like "WHAT THE HELL!" I hated the series at first because he was ignoring me, but I never tried it. Then one day I decided to buy a ps2 and bought a copy of FFX with it. Obviously I was like "BLITZBALL RULEZ" and played it 3 times in a row until I saw a copy of FFVIII at a store, and I bought it. I told my friend afterward "I GOT FF7" and he said it was FF8, so I had to learn roman numerals. I loved FFVIII and played it until I reached a unreadable part at the end of disc 3. I could not get a new copy from the stores anymore and resorted to buying another copy of ebay, along with every other title that was labeled Final Fantasy. So that is my story and a example why ebay RULEZ!
Basically I love the series for its music, gameplay, characters, mythology, and I can't forget to mention the Cystals. Though I was disappointed with the music after the composer left (its like torture), I stayed with the series due to its great title. Crisis Core was awesome and that just gives me higher hopes for the future games. I bet my great-grandchildren will be playing FFXXXVI when I die.
The first game I played....oh god, can't remember, too many years ago...
But my first time with Final Fantasy was on a special place for people with genetic diseases (I got neurofibromatosis). Some dude came along with a PS2 for one evening, and he brought along FFX. I started the game and the unknowingly located at Macalania, Rin's shop, just before the fight with the Al Bhed Crawler (the tank with the magic negator). Just before the fight, I summoned Ixion, and he got killed by some wolf and a flan. And then I fought the Crawler and lost, the dude who brought the PS2 got him, and advanced into the temple, where I went, before having to quit due to others who wanted to play other games. I was in the hallway beofre the fight with Seymour, but didn't getas far as seeing him.
But what has made me wan to play FF, are the stories, superbosses to some degree, random AMV's of PS1's, the music of Nobuo Uematsu, and somewhat the batle systems as it's not just press-press-press-press-press on the X or square.

Well most probably for me are the presentation of Final fantasy!!
they always try to maximize the graphic, like FF 9 which have the best graphic for the PS one.
the art is very good and interesting.
also the game play. I'm sure most of us here play FF for its gameplay.
another and yet important reason is the story. well RPG like Final fantasy are with long of hours of gameplay. You have to play more then 50-60 hours of gameplay to win it. unlike other games genre. Well without good story people might just get bored. but most of FF series were able to deliver good story.
