What is everyones opinion on torture? As in like, torturing... i dunno, Sadam. Make him die in some horrific pain if he's murdered millions or whatever.
Here's an example of torture so everyone is "on the same page":
Anyway, I don't like torture, but I still see it as a last resort. I mean, if Osama was going to blow up a bomb in the middle of Manhattan and he wouldn't tell where the bomb was, then go ahead, torture him if it'll save a lot of lives.
torture-for delinquents with no conscience whatsoever you'll end up with someone so physically and mentally useless not to mentioned scarred that they wont even know their name

Better than a physically and mentally able maniac out to kill everyone they see with knives and guns.
I'm not religious at all but come from a 'muslim background' (whatever the hell that means). If someone tortued me I'm sure they could easily get me to say I was an Islamic Fundamentalist and to implicate everyone I know in my 'crimes'. Information procured under torure is very unreliable. Thats not taking into account any ethical concerns.
Although tortue is used mostly just to instill fear in a populace and make them easier to control (case in point, Chile under Pinochet).

dang everything always has it pros and cons-no matter who the subject is everyone has some form of dignity that when diminished probably leaves no purpose for surviving. Extremely tough interrogation techniques would be an alternative. Personally I would find anyone committing to torture morally intolerable.

Wtf. I'd gladly torture someone who has evidence of terrorist activities. Anyone who is against torture is fucking crazy. Putting someone through pain to save thousands is obviously worth it. When it comes to saving thousands of people, fuck ethics or morales.
And it does work btw because if they lie they just get tortured more or chucked in G.Bay.
How about I torture you and see if I can get your credit card number <3

Has logic killed this thread?
Guess you can categorize me as crazy but as dream machine suggested-say there was a flaw and they picked a completely innocent percent to torture for valuable information or confessions which they just don't have-the torture would mentally deteriorate them so much their willing to confess to any profanity the interrogators throw at them even though 110% they did or know nothing-but if the evidence heavily weighs up against say a terror suspect then why not?

Torturing someone innocent for the chance of him being a terrorist is more than worth it.
If he isn't a terrorist = Then he may be mentally scarred but its better than taking the risk.
If he is a terrorist = Then you've possibly just saved thousands of people.
Though, how do you know the person's telling the truth while torturing? He might be saying the truth. That person probably doesn't know a thing yet you're still torturing them.

Because iwhen it comes to saving thousands, ts better to do something and be wrong rather than not doing something and find you were right.
