Default Revamp of Romeo and Juliet?

But set in a Final Fantasy state? The trailer even includes a Shakespeare quote which is from hamlet but from the current pictures and such the story does seem to resemble Romeo and Juliet.

Apparantly the Family of the protagonist are meant to be like the Yakusa today which is what Romeo and Juliet contains. Hell it seems he even fights a girl who is from another family, yet again related to Romeo and Juliet.

Just an idea :S

Ditto, although it'd present some interesting potential dub choices if it was (though they probably couldn't afford DiCaprio or Danes. Not that great a pity.)

How does the protagonist fighting the heroine resemble romeo and juliet? The only man that beat juliet in that play was her father. The only thing romeo did was kill her through love. <<<<<NIIIIICE!

Yes, romeo was the eccentric type when it came to love. It's because he says something about juliet making him feel like a 'bird who's flight is now abound'', something to do with him being set free by juliet. Can't remember properly, it was like 4 years ago since I did it. lol. Dicaprio and Danes sort of got it right in the film. The maid in that film was GENIUS! although thats another topic. lol. Can't wait for these new details Kit!

I can see what you mean, but in the long run, it doesn't really make any sense.
The story R&J is based upon the forbidden love of two crazy faggots.
FFvsXIII was told to not to involve love. (ok maybe man love but yaknow ;D)
lul.
Old English is for gigglez, R&J was gigglez ;D

Yeah but doesn't that defeat the object? Romeo and Juliet's story was based on the fact they weren't meant to like each other but did effectively. I don't remember Romeo and Juliet wanting to duel. XD

Someone beat me to this conclusion, but I'm glad some people caught onto some of the small hints that this game seems to have a bit of shakespearian influence. The quote taken which says "Nothing is really good nor bad" is only the initial lead to what may be an shakespearian Final Fantasy game.

Like mentioned above by other posters, there seems to be some families, royalties, gangs/yakuza feuds going on, or at least a war for the control of the last crystal remaining.

And lastly, the mood of the game. It has been confirmed by various sources that while many other Final Fantasy titles had "happy endings" of some sort, this one will have a sad ending. The mood of this game looks gloomy. People will probably die in this game... to have a key term embedded to this title: Tradgedies. And what did a lot of the Shakespearian stories have in common? Tradgedies.

Well, it's all speculation at the moment, but it seems like Final Fantasy is taking a Revamping of famous classical stories course with their games. Like when I though Final Fantasy XII resembled Star Wars too much (and I still think it is a revamp or FF remake of it to this day). I just hope they can incorporate something that will blow away people's minds, Kazahki-...er, Final Fantasy - style.

I`m not sure about R&J...
Somehow I think in this game the prince would have to fight against his own family.

ShadowMagnet, I can see that happening.

One of my speculations is that like your idea, the game opens as the protagonist and his family sit down in a meeting to come to some treaty or agreement against the enemies or rivaling families. However, the protagonist is attacked, and after escaping the attack the prince seeks help from his friends. I'm guessing that the crystal is imbedded inside the Prince somehow, as his fighting powers are granted from the crystal. The enemies are after it, and as the game progresses it turns out that his family and friends had an underhand exchange with the enemy of betraying him for some kind of benefit to themselves, and the only person the prince can now rely on is that girl with the rapier. This is only just one of my few guesses though.

You need to read up on the earlier news posted on the main site. Also try reading FNC magazine issue 1 and 2 for a summary and some speculations on there. The crystal is not imbedded in the prince, it has already been confirmed that the crystal is situated behind the throne in the throne room, it is therefore not imbedded into the prince.

Nice theory though, although I would think it a little 'boring', and predictable.

Ah, fair enough Pulse, thank you for the clarification. I wasn't sure if the crystal was imbedded in the prince, or it came from somewhere close by... but that certainly makes a difference! Good stuff, I shall go read the earlier posts.

And yea, the theory I provided is indeed quite bland lol. I have reason to believe though that 1) the recent Final Fantasy games are predictable or can easily be second-guessed or 2) More people/players/fans can think in terms of the game's story developers at SE... I think it's a mixture of both. I think this is why I am hoping for something "outside the box" with this game. Not only does the visual performance prove to be astounding, it has so much potential to make this the first "dark" Final Fantasy that will be debatable amongst those who've played it, and may catch the interest of people who do not play videogames. Kind of like how Batman Begins re-defined and sparked the interest of non-fans of the series.
