Default Chrono Trigger

I'm almost finished Chrono Trigger. I'm around the part after you destroy the black omen and then you have to beat Lavos.

Most of the game was really easy, and then it just wasnt joking and it kicked my butt for 15 minutes and then it got extremely easy again. Now I'm almost finished it. It took me couple months since for about a month I was busy with other stuff and got really bored.

Who else played Chrono Trigger and what did you think about it?

Theres already a thread on this.

I think its overrated. Some say its the best RPG ever, but its nowhere near it.

Yup, great game, made of the same stuff that made Final Fantasy a hugely successful series. New game+ and multiple endings were pure genious at the time.

I liked Chrono Trigger but IMHO Chrono Cross was better. Traveling through time was fun but finding out that you are dead in an alternate reality is awesome especially when your trying to keep the balance of good and evil on both sides. If I could, I would play Chrono Trigger again but my friend moved with my ps1 and SNES copy T_T

Woah, there are still people alive who haven't played Chrono Trigger? :O (j/k)

I adore this game - I'm probably one of those who would argue its greatness against almost anything else; but I think it's mostly nostalgia for me. I played this game about 4 times all the way through in the 3rd grade and it was probably the greatest thing I'd ever seen at the time, ever - even greater than FF7, in my eyes. I couldn't really ever put a finger on what I thought was so great about it, though. Weird, huh.

I also loved Chrono Cross, the story was pretty meh from what I can remember but the gameplay was so great, and the character list was astonishing (the only game being more vast that I can readily think of in the sense of party size is the Suikoden series). My only turnoffs were the removal of characters' innate elements and combo Techs. After that, it sort of generic-ified the game for me. I prefer Trigger over it, in the end.

@Wohdin - I dont like emulators much lol. But I agree about nostalgia at a young age when it comes to rpg's like Chrono Trigger and the like. My first ever RPG was Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars. I played that everyday when it came out, even now.

Awesome. I've beaten CT at least 8 times on emulator alone - I have no idea how many more on consoles, probably twice that many.

I played Chrono Trigger, but I completed it only half of the game, and then I got bored somehow, though I have to admit its a good game, I wouldnt say it was one of THOSE RPPS, you need to play before death, I much more enjoy it Chrono Cross, which for me was awesome.
And now with this DS version I am wondering if CT fans will get it, I dont have DS but even if I would probably I wouldnt buy it anyway, I think if they were planning to bring CT on other platform they could refresh the game a bit, as they did with old FF games

Samething here.....i played the snes version on emulator and i did half the game until i get bored. Its a good rpg but its not that great.
I will get the DS version, but i will only get it cause i can get it for free
I m thinking of downnload Chrono Cross to play in my ps1 emulator.
Gamespot give 10/10 to Chrono Cross.

Look at this....

No, it isnt the DS remake.....
A Chrono Trigger fans began to do the game for PC. Sadly
Square-Enix didnt like the idea( violing our rights) and they ask to the chrono trigger fan to stop.
SE started to do Chrono Break( a new Chrono game) and a port of FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX to PS2 but they canceled.

I've never played this game, but I plan on it when it comes out for the DS.

Chrono Cross was a great game though.

yeh, you could actually transferm characters from CT to CC somehow, if you had save state
and also the whole game starts similar to CT, main character wake up in home, by his mum, who's telling him to go visit his friend, and this is where the whole stroy begins
