I never once posted in the section. Shows how useful it is. No one cares if you are new or not. Just make worthwhile posts.
I would not go that far. I like it when people introduce themselves instead of just posting one day, but unless you actually going to be an active member, then don't make a damn intro thread.
There's nothing wrong with the section, just the people who post in it.

Most of the "idiots" seem to be posting in this thread complaining about idiots who spam . Does everyone have amnesia?

Why remove the post count system? If someone is spamming to boost post count then apart from being a sad person they will be moderated. Whatever happens, You aren't your post count.
All bumped introduction threads will be closed. I haven't been moderating too much lately because I've moved to uni recently but I'll concentrate on it more from now on.

If you just give me the mod power we wouldn't be having this problem.
I just thought of a brilliant idea...Instead of making new members introduce themselves, we introduce them. Once a week a designated person (someone reliable) makes a post in the topic.

Umm, no, that would be kind of weird. Pretend you just signed up and the next thing you see is someone else introducing you even though they don't know you at all whatsoever. And you have the intention of leaving right after making an account. Which is what a lot of people do. So then we'd end up with a pile of threads for people that never posted, which really makes no sense.
I haven't seen any other forum that has everyone else introduce a new member, either...
