Firstly I wanna say how great your forums is - I've been around a lot and I'm really liking this one but there are some suggestions I have to make; I really wish you guys would get a rep feature on this forums, whoever invented the system should have a medal. I think it strengthens the community more if you installed one, KHinsider, PSU's forums ect all have rep systems and they work really well, plus it's great feeling of achievement when you work hard on a post and people reward you for it.
Next I come to members, I think it would be great to add a premium member status to the forums, this gives people an incentive to reach a goal and really can (not always) bring up the activity and this place does kinda need an activity boost of somesort (It will help; the more ways you have to intice posting the better). If you give them some extra benefits like extra PM space, their own username colour and forum and the ability to have a custom user title (I know this has already been enabled for all members) ect. I know on KHI a lot of my friends were striving to get 1000 posts to become an premium member and they all posted a lot to get to it before each other.
I agree with you Synesis. Although it's all not really necessary for me to be active on this forum, if we want others to stay, we need to change a couple of things around here. I think your suggestions would work. The one thing I like about this forum, are the users. The people who stay active on this forum, have my respect. Regardless of what the forum has or doesn't have, they stay active. Lol, so I guess you have your team of moderators already here, if the forum does decide to expand. There are some users here that would be excellent mods. No pun on current mods (you guys are great).

Really? I left because of that whole premier member status thing. You have to have 1000 posts to get a namechange FFS. xD
As for the rep system, a topic for such a matter has already been sorted and it was decided we wouldn't have it. Alternatively, this forum is pretty laid back. We don't need new members yelling about a negrep because someone negged them for a less than literate/witty post. Being that this forum is laid back like it is, there's not going to be any incentive to make sure the Rep feature isn't abused.
I don't support this idea of having to get 1000 posts to become a 'premium' member - it would just encourage people to spam constantly to build up their post counts and there's enough of a problem with spamming here already. The extra benefits of being a premium member don't sound that great anyway.
The rep system really doesn't interest me at all, and like Exodus says, would be far too open to abuse.
We haven't implemented the Rep system because people abuse it. They give other people they don't like loads of bad rep and there is no way to control how many a person can give in a day etc.
As for the premium member thing; I think thats just a cheap way to get people to post personally. Aside from that, i dont think people would care all that much as a whole since all the members have all the same permissions etc.
If we wanted to add a little incentive to the premium member thing we would have to have some sort of special feature that you'd get for being one, right? Otherwise its just pointless. We don't want to take away simple things like posting usernotes or whatever, but we also don't want to give you shit like ACF does, e.g. if you donate you can post in your usernotes... thats crap to me, I dont think anyone would really care about that since there's no point to it.
43,000 posts when all we have had is two trailers and some screenshots says to me that people are enjoying themselves here. Yes, things may change in time and we might upgrade things or add new features but at the moment we've got no plans to. Your suggestions have been noted though.

What about when someone with a grudge/just doesn't like you decides to negrep you for that reason alone? Going to feel achievement then?
You can't give 'negrep' - only good rep, that was the point. The simple system PSU uses - a limit per day and you can't abuse it. Plus I was only throwing out a few ideas for premium membership its up to the admins to make it as appealing as they can. You don't need to take away the user notes either - they can coincide but personally I see more chance of the user notes being abused then a simple rep system. And Enigma, I never said that we completely copy KHI - It's entirely up to the admins about the amount of posts or benefits needed for a username change, 1000 posts is just how KHI sees it fit.
No, its nothing to do with usernotes, that was an example. My point is that there isnt anything appealing enough to give exclusively to these premium members thats worth caring about.

lol $100? I'm sure there is if you be imaginative, a user poll maybe on what they would like if it was to be implemented?
Well I know of certain forums, where things are unlocked based on the amount of posts you have. For example, after ten posts you would be allowed to have a personalized avatar and a sig. There are many features that we take for granted, that could be used if we decide to expand. But it's really not necessary, at least for me it isn't. But I do understand both sides of the argument. We really don't have as many active members as other forums, but on the other hand you can say that's a good thing for various reasons.
Its more of a suggestive argument. I'm not saying you should employ the ideas straight away, by all means wait until you decide you have more members - maybe we should write to S-E and ask them to make 2 more trailers just for us so we can have 1000 members and 80,000+ posts Seriously I know activity will pick up once more info is released, you are doing conciderably well giving the fact that there has been so little information.
This is nothing to do with the amount of active members. We don't want to take basic features like an avatar and sig away from new members. Making people get 10 posts to have an avatar isn't going to make anyone stay...
Well forums like the AC forum show the opposite. They have hundreds of members visiting the forum everyday, where we only have about at most 50 members logging in each day. I really don't care what happens here, I'll like it either way. But I'm just to show you another perspective on this issue. I don't really think a rep system is needed. But, there are other features to make the forum more interesting to new members. Yes, they may and could be abused, but if you have enough mods, you can keep the members in check....give out warnings and stuff about spamming in serious discussions. Little things like that could improve our ratings here. I know when I joined, everybody expected I was going to leave, it seemed a norm among noobs to leave. But, whatever...I could care less. I think the forum is fine the way it is, I'll be active either way.

Yes and they have also been up for 4 years. ACF don't get loads of members because they make people get 10 posts before they can have an avatar, they have so many members and posts because they have a hugely popular FF7 network, its nothing to do with cheapy gimicks. :/
