The latest issue of EGM has a small section on FFXIII. It says that Square-Enix is deciding to take advantage of the PS3's online connectivity by releasing bug fixing patches regulary. This means they can leave us to find the bugs when its released and they'll fix them as we find them which will cut back on alot of testing. This won't be so bad for people who buy the game later on but people who buy it on release may experience problems.
There is a huge difference between PC games and a console. You can have millions of setups for a PC. They have to be updated to match the newest hardware. A console stays the same way and will not change in any drastic ways. (Except firmwareupdates)
Sometimes a game won’t even start before you update it on a pc. You never have that problem with a game console.
They will do a decent bug test before the launch in to the marked. So I don’t think things like a freeze in the middle of a game will occur. But what are more entertaining are the glitches. I love to do something extra or unusual. And speed runners will love this.
Thanks for posting this in here Was meaning to do it earlier.
I agree, they won't release it unplayable or people will want there money back and what if someone doesnt have a router to connect their PS3 to the internet with? Then they just get to play the buggy version of the game.

Isnt that what WiFi is for? for ppl who cant connect to their pc's?

Not exactly. Basiclly WiFi uses a wireless router which is connected to the internet. So you need a wireless router to connect your PS3 to the internet which is connected to a broadband connection. Also the 20GB version doesnt come with WiFi, only an ethernet port which can connect to a normal router with a cable.

Thats a good point i hope it does mean that but they'll probably find some other reason to slow it down :/
WiFi is supposed to be spread throughout America, even in the countryside. Here in Long Island, it's already here in cafe's and stuff, you have to buy to get in, but it's primo quality. You can get decent connections from about 2 feet from the cafe, but that's it.
For the most part, people WILL spring for the 599 dollar PS3, but Sony better up the ante on the 599 dollar one. omfg guyz is wifi an hdtv n shiz!! Not like we didn't have to drag a cable to our PS2 that could be fit into the PS3 one. X360 has it right with the 2 models, extreme differences.
If a person, like me, were to get XIII and a patch were to come out, I would expect a disc of some sort to come out at retailers. I would also expect that the kinks would be initially worked out before a US release, we're much more bitchier about getting things right the first time.

Sooo, you will drag a 5kg lots of $$$ box to a cafe, then ask for a TV, pay, connect, download and then walk back?
If you can download a file I guess you can export it to a much more handy usb.
And wifi is nowhere near useful on the contryside in the EU. To far away for the old cabels to handle broadband. So the moral is. Not everyone have ADSL
Do you think that the PS3 will have wider range Wi-Fi?
I dont really know. I know that the PS3 can use both 802.1g/b connections but it depends on how far your router can reach. The PS3 is just a reciever really
I think it would be nice if you didnt have a connection available to your PS3 and you could use a PC and download the update from there and put it on a USB stick or something.
Do you think that the PS3 will have wider range Wi-Fi?
No, it still have the same range as the b/g standards. And it higly depends on the wlan box. I dont think PS3 will have a lousy wlan chip, but I don't see a antenna coming out of the case, something that could reduce the range a bit.
EDIT: Dammit, Kitmitsu beat me. If you can, use a cable. Much more stable then to force the outer limits of your wlan range. It sucks to drop out.
Hextan posted two hours ago. Yet you manage to beat me by a minute
