Default Gametrailers Final Fantasy Retrospective

No-one else seems to have mentioned this, but Gametrailers have begun to do a series exploring the history of the FF games. There's going to be 12 parts, one each week (they're up to episode 5 at time of writing).

episode 1 : Final Fantasy 1

episode 2: Final Fantasy 2 and 3

episode 3: Final Fantasy 4 and 5

episode 4: Final Fantasy 6

episode 5: Final Fantasy 7

Each episode explores the background of the games, the history of their development, what innovations each game brings and various other info.

here's the link to the index page:

Oh yes, me and Dante have been watching this. I forgot to post about it actually .

It's interesting to see how the series has progressed and how designers have moved on. I do wonder why they didn't even mention Advent Children in the Final Fantasy VII episode. I wonder if there'll be any mention of FFXIII as they do more than a game an episode some times.

I just hope they don't skip FFXI like most 'Look back at the FF series' do. At least get someone with experience in it to pass on the information.

I haven't watched any yet because I am lazy and scared. Scared they hurt FFV with all its greatest and second best scripted fight in the series!! SECOND BEST (first was in IV)!

As far as I know they're going to cover all the games and all the various spin-offs etc, so I doubt they would leave FFXI out in the cold. Whether or not it will get a whole episode devoted to it, I don't know.

Actually they're pretty apreciative of FFV's greatness and focus quite a bit on the job/ability system.

By the way, are you talking about the 'spoony bard' fight in IV or something else?

No, the Fight between Edge and his mutated parents.

Episode 8 is now up and the whole thing is about FFXI:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24494.html

They seem to focus on dicussing the storyline and history of the FFXI gameworld and it's pretty light on how the game actually plays, there's little info on how the combat works for example.

Next episode is going to be about FFXII and the other games set in the world of Ivalice (FF Tactics, Vagrant Story, FF Tactics Advance etc).
