Wouldn't it be lame to have an RP forum when so little people would be dedicated to do it ?
Use common sense folks. AdventChildren.net is the place for that.
I guess you could use that argument. But often times Roleplays on bigger forums become messy and difficult to control. Furthermore, with so many people, the possibilities of developing a more in depth story line are limited as people stick to simpler methods of interaction. I even don't attempt to join a roleplay on larger forums - much less join a large forum in the first place; they lack the intimacy of smaller more concentrated forums.
Because we have an acceptable amount of people - and at least creative people - I thought it wouldn't hurt to develop at least a test roleplay. There are people who visit this forum regularly, and with that fact it's still possible for a dedicated roleplay to be successful.
Of course developing a roleplay depends on the dedication of the players who would try it out - that's why I made this thread in the first place. And not to be rude to those who enjoy chatting over less focused subjects, I think a roleplay would allow a different and refreshing kind of enjoyable interaction.
If I didn't consider the possibility of a successful roleplay, I wouldn't have made this thread. Of course, if this thread doesn't fill up then it's purpose is done; I'll try again later.
I'm still ironing out some elements, but here's a small write up just to spark some curiosity:
"Have you ever had a dream that has never happened, and yet seemed so real? So close, and yet so far away? A dream that you were once from somewhere else? A different home even?
The Auriels say that every understanding - every religion, every science, every subject - is just a different path towards a single destination of knowing everything. They call it "The Ultimate Revelation". Most scientists refute this claim, but The Auriels claim that this "Ultimate Revelation" is when our dreams will be reality; it is when the true path of finding our real home will be revealed."
No. I will not reveal who The Auriels are or what their intentions are.
It sounds okay. I would rather have a assassination plot or something about corruption from the inside of an organization with fantasy elements to it, but it sounds okay.
That isn't very interesting. How about a time where butt pirates roamed the sand? Yes sand and butt pirates. I'll join for that in a instant.
On a serious note. It sounds like a total rip off of the Alantis people in Escaflowne.
I've never watched Escaflowne before. If the story includes people who have ventured to a different world, but wonder about the world they originally came from - that theme has already been explored in many different stories outside of 'Escaflowne' and anime and general fantasy/sci-fi plots. It's difficult to create something original when the human psyche can only venture so far in such a small time span.
Furthermore, this 'humans came from another planet but forgot that' is an actual theory proposed by several historians and scientists that humans actually came from another planet.
