Jump has finally revealed the long-awaited new look of the titular heroine of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII! Designed by Tetsuya Nomura, the new design takes Lightning's look in a radical new direction. While this is Lightning's default design for the game, keep in mind that she has several customizable outfits throughout the game. Here's our first look!
Spoiler:
Along with these lovely scans came a few new details about the world of Lightning Returns and what we can expect from the combat. It seems Lightning's costume isn't the only big change we can expect; as promised the gameplay in Lightning Returns seems to be a drastically different experience from its predecessors. Lightning can reportedly traverse the world freely both on the ground and vertically, leaping on top of terrain and even using some elements of stealth. The concept of the game is "The world's last thirteen days".
Was Nomura having an affair with Tite Kubo or something when he made that? I mean seriously it's like from a character from Bleach. She has some sort of bancho look.
Also I'm not much for the whole "wow that's sexist" thing that's popular in some parts of the internet, like Tumblr, but I frankly don't want to see Lightning's cooch anymore. She looks like a cheap slut that's trying to look bad ass. Perhaps now she has distraction abilities where the enemy won't stop staring at her wide open vagina.
I don't think that makes her feminine or strong. It just looks like someone is trying to make their "waifu" look cool but at the same time a lady.... a lady in red that is.
I kind of like it. I'm digging the top portion of the armor (minus the impractical skin exposure)...the bottom part I'm not a huge fan of but at least other customization options will be available...
Same, I only have issues is with those two... things at the sides. It's like she cut her old trenchcoat in half, it doesn't make any sense. The top is cool though, I like it. The cape is weird.
I'm not too sure about this. All the dark colours in contrast to her hair makes it look weird. Not to mention the weird ass pose in the render. The chest plate thing makes her torso look really thin and elongated too. And like .simon said, her chap things (if you could call them that..) look like her coat from the first game. Despite the design, I'm really glad to hear about new game play.
Lightning Farron: bondage warrior cooter of space and time
It's hard to tell but the backgrounds look pretty decent, nothing like TLoU, but I wasn't expecting that from this anyway.
I don't mind the entire outfits AS MUCH, but um...that hakama pant/skirt thing needs to go. I'm more interested to see how significant the customization options for her armor are.
I am so SO very happy they brought back the 3/4 body zoom when the character stops moving, I think it makes everything look much more picture-esque and I was disappointed to see it go in XIII-2. It's not a big deal but it's little details like that that make the game seem more polished.

Hmmm. I like it, I think it would be better if the bottom were just some sensible pants, I like the colors but I think it be better as pants. I probably feel this way because with all the odd accesories she just looks so out of place in the world around her, guess that's the point. Still it's a bit jarring do none of the NPC's care that there's some woman dressed in I-don't-know-what jumping from building in their city? I understand the hero should be distinctive but this a bit much.
Do like that she's channeling her inner dominatrix though.
