This thread is a discussion about the term war. You can relate to the war going on now, or war that has occurred in the past. Please dont use this thread to bash the government because this is not the place for it. Just simply reply if your for it and give reasons and vica-versa.
'All War is over land'. Can't remember who said it but its true, I looked back at all the wars I could think of and it seems to be true. I thought some would be about beliefs or prehaps resources but it all leads back to land. Obvious example, Isreal and Palestine.
You might just think its the simple clash of civvilisations and it is but look at why. A lot of Isrealies (the 'Setteler' movement), not all but a growing number believe they have a divine right over all of the lands in the middle east and as such steal land with 'secruity' walls that just steal land really. Conflict ensues. Rinse and repeat.
I heard somewhere else that at the turn of the last century we had enough collective knowledge of how humans work to rationalise and stop war. but as most of the world is kept intentionally uneducated by thier own governments and the ruling elite for power and profit, war aint stopping anytime soon.
Just a small not if anyone wants to attack me, I am not an anti-semite, just anti-any crazy fundamentalist; be they christian, muslim, jewish or anything else.
There's always gonna be war. If you take away our weapons, we'll start to fight each other bare handed. Cut off our limbs and we'll bite each other. It's true that all wars are over land. Religion and beliefs are just excuses the government/monarchy feed the people to get them to support the war.
I think that "war" can mean many different things. I think that war can be fought over anything. I think that war is also the most stupid thing ever invented. I will elaborate later....................

That's disgusting... humans can be so easily convinced to turn againist each other for such little things
War...it makes me think that..our world can't be in peace...
War, just why can't people discuss their problems without fighting and hurting people?
I think that war it's one of the most horrible things
"War does not determine who is right, but who is left." - Confucious
He was a very wise man.
The only good place for war is Halo. Or Starship Troopers.
In both instances, we joined forces with our fellow man to fight a bunch of bugs that threatened to kill our entire species off. They didn't care whether we were black, white, yellow, boy or girl, Christian, Muslim or Devil Worshipper. And they sure didn't give a damn whether we played Final Fantasy or not.
Give War the finger. Flip it the bird.
Choose LIFE.
Our social studies teacher is reading us "Johnny's Got His Gun" which was banned in several countries. It's an anti-war novel. Basically, a healthy, happy, teenage boy is recruited into the army. Then, he is struck down by... something or other. Next thing he knows, he is lying on a hospital bed, with no arms, no legs, and no face. Unfortunately, he is still concious, and is frustrated that the most he can do is feebly wobble on the bed. He cannot kill himself, since he is breathing through a tube in his neck. He thinks about a lot of things, and blah-blah-blah. A really interesting book.
I believe it was a shell that hit him, and then he had several wounds on his limbs in which gangrene occurred in. The shell defeaned him, too.
The novel also gets into how romanticised views of war are so stupid. {Paraphrased from the novel:}
Spoiler:
You never fight to protect the beautiful girls, you don't fight to protect liberty -- 'liberty', 'freedom', and all the rest all are just words. Fighting to protect something in particular that you value more than your life; that's better because it's just a simple trade. Your life for something more.
When it comes down to it, though, life matters above all, and going to war is just like giving up your life. Joe knows because he's like the dead man who can think.
It's rather eerie. One of those books that just tends to linger in the back of your mind all the time, for me.
War, like a lot of people in this thread, is, I think, one of the most terrible things ever. When people declare war, do they think of the people who die when they look at the statistics for mortality rate, of how each one had family and friends waiting for them -- or do people think of them as just a bunch of figures? No amount of land, resources, power, or anything else, is worth all that death.
And Jason, I disagree. Religion, I think, is a huge factor in wars.
Unfortunately, anger and conflict will only just cause war to continue. Hurray.
