Really? SE's worse at making movies than it is at making sequels...
They could actually make a pretty damn good looking movie; if they actually had a semi-competent writing team, they could probably create wonders. TSW still looks wonderful. Advent Children was good for what it was.. big fanservice.
I wouldn't mind if the XIII series went this direction instead. But.. I'm probably the only one that still has it in their heart to love XIII and XIII-2, despite the godawful flaws that plague them.

Not only you. I'm so attached to its mythology that it's quite hard for me to give up any hope for the saga.
I prefer them handing a movie project to Visual Works or whoever the fuck, rather than them working on another mess of a sequel.
I liked Spirits Within.
I liked Spirits Within too but come on, it was a mediocre film just like FFXIII-2 is a mediocre game (and I liked that one too). Besides, I doubt they'll do anything like that if they try another movie. It'll be some Nomura-esque bullshit like Advent Children, since that's what fanboys masturbate to.
Spiritis Within was sort of a joke, not much of "Final Fantasy" over it. I'm sure they could do a good movie if they really wanted to, take good Final Fantasy game, simplify it ever so slightly (there are the many hours of levelling up that doesn't need to be covered in a movie, it would be weird... repetative and... weird). But we know that a Final Fantasy title can have a good story, and that's what a movie is - a good story. Who knows though, right? I just want something, some kind of... real ending. It's getting to a point though where I don't care whether it's a book (as long as it reach the English speaking market as well), a movie, a PSP game, a DS/3DS or a PS3 game - I'm such a girl, but I need closure

But in all honesty I didn't hate XIII and I didn't hate XIII-2 although it could have been much much better. I'm just so tired of SE releasing Final Fantasies that are 60% game and 40% DLC. The amount of DLC and it's price will largely determine whether or not I buy XIII-3.

Anyway, I didn't bother buying any DLC for XIII-2 but apparently there were enough idiots who did so SE never saw any reason to release packs. The DLC they did release were all either terrible or just below average, so not worth the price of admission. Shit you paid $60 and only got half a game really. XIII-3 is bound to have a shitload of unnecessary DLC and given what those prices are going to be, as well as the new scam Sony has going on with regards to PSN it probably isn't worth it. Still I'm a collector so if they release a special edition of XIII-3 I'm going to get it but the DLC is a pass.

And as far as I know, no one was forced to buy the DLC, I for one enjoyed some of them, but I guess that makes me an idiot?

To try to get back on topic, I hope they actually give us news on September 1st, because I'm actually pretty curious. It's pretty obvious that something more will happen to this saga, question is if they'll be able to save XIII or if it was lost for not leaving it a single title. Not that I didn't enjoy XIII-2, I for one really did but there were quite a few unanswered questions left.
I need my happy ending, but we'll just have to wait and see I'm afraid.
