So, Em and I had a little bet going on about whether Makorra would happen or not. I lost. As such, here is the thread I promised her. I am doing this quite grudgingly.
Well, yeah. Even I could see they were going to happen in the end. Hell, I knew it after the first episode. It was as cliché as possible. Granted, I've only seen the first four episodes. I have to catch up. But I can say after those four episodes, I really did not like the way the writers were going about the romance aspect. And I highly doubt that will change for me as I watch the other episodes.
I think Ari was feeling was what I was feeling. You know, an ultimately futile hope that that's not how things would end up despite it being so painfully obvious.
Despite me being extremely biased and having won this round, now that I think about it more and more, I can totally see them trolling us and ending Makorra in the second season. As much as I don't want it to happen.

They'll probably break up more times than a troubled Facebook couple.

Man, I sure would like to beat that pussy up- Jake's straightness attempt.
We know since the fourth/fifth episode that Korra loves Mako and he has feelings for her. It would happen eventually, they have been approaching each other in the last episodes.
Did you want this to be like TLA or an ordinary japanese anime in which the viewer knows since the beginning who the romantic pair is but they only declare their love in the very last episode?
Again, romance is just a small part in LoK, it´s not a big deal. I don´t know why people have this necessity to talk about pairings and who ends up with who. Not everyone is a 13 years old girl here.

But that's exactly what fucking happened, and that's why it's terrible. It was so painfully obvious and cliche, and I figure that's why most people were upset. Not only that, but Mako didn't bother breaking up with Asami for this, which is also terrible.
I thought they broke up, Mako and Asami that is, before Mako left with Korra in episode 11. Sure it was not your standard break up, but it was the next best thing considering what was going on.

I don't know if I'd consider that a break-up. Then again, it could have easily happened off-screen.
