The Lightning pics include a look at Lightning's exclusive new role, Blast Wizard, which is specialized in magic, and her updated Scene Drive Kai move. The Moogle pics show five of the sixteen costumes: Pirate, Stylish, Dog, Little Devil and Kitty.
As far as I can tell, the roles Lightning has are...
[BLA-WIZ] Blaster Wizard, which is mentioned in the article.
[BLA-SHM] Blaster Shaman is the only thing I could think of, honestly.
[ATK-PLD] Attacker Paladin, most definitely.
[DEF-KNT] = Defender Knight, almost certainly.
So basically, she has at least FOUR roles 'uniquely' hers, although I am curious as to why BLA-WIZ and BLA-SHM have the same color names. The articles I'm reading say that in addition to the roles she would have her own unique moves, so I guess we'll see. It's also worth noting that I can't find anything about the Lightning Episode having a completely different battle system; From wiki to articles, all I can find is "slightly different", "altered", and other variations on the phrase. I don't know what you silly people were expecting. <3
Hm. If they pull this off correctly, I might be interested. It's good to see that Lightning doesn't have monster sidekicks, but they better do something special with her abilities.
So adding an extra word to each role makes them 'unique' to Lightning.
Well, she IS the only one that gets them. And again, the articles are claiming she gets her own abilities separate from those in-game. We'll see what happens, I suppose.

Anybody else able to translate the first part of the ability name in the screenie where her role is BLA-SHM? The animation looks sort of like Aero, but the second half of the ability names is Burasuto/Blast. I thought it might be Aero Blitz, but I haven't checked the game yet.
Hooray for new roles. I'm quite interested on how these new roles work. Why the hell is it bright in Valhalla though? It certainly does not have the greyish-green hue like what we've seen in-game.
They haven't mentioned anything concrete yet, but they mentioned before that it would be released in May and the Snow thing is being released May 15th so it will probably come out shortly after.
Oh, I see... Well, I hope its a decent size DLC with a good story (or episode, haha!) and gameplay action. It would be nice to play something while we wait for E3. One thing that I'm kind of worried about though is the ATB bars. Didn't the game start off with 6? I wonder why they cut it down to 5? Thanks by the way! And thank you Ffamran for the screenshots!
Meh, hardly impressed. If this is what they meant by their "new battle system", then I'm going to laugh. A few new takes on old roles, and some new versions of older spells isn't really all that inventive.
I hate to be a spoilsport, but I don't think they ever promised us a new battle system. Just an experience that was somewhat different from the rest of the game. Hybrid roles- and that's what I think they are- no monsters and god-like stats is exactly what I was hoping for concerning this DLC. If they throw in some new spells and attacks that look nice, I'll be willing to call this a win. I'm just crossing my fingers that they don't promise us XIII-3.

I was thinking something along the same lines. It would seem really silly and random to implement a completely different battle system just for one segment. Hopefully the upgrades are substantial for the episode. I would like to run around Valhalla, but I'm not holding my breath for much more outside of battles and cutscenes. Only time will tell.
I'm not a big DLC person, so how long is a 450 MB dlc approximately?
Well, I don't know for sure really. The Sazh Episode was about 175ish MB, and that was just some games and didn't take too long. The install data for 13-2 is about 8 GB, but most of that is just for streamlining I think.
I don't think you can really quantify the length by download size that way, since it depends on the game and what the DLC is supposed to add. Since it seems to use an altered version of the main game's systems I would imagine most of that data is story scenes and/or exploration content after it makes the necessary changes to the combat.

I know it's gonna be improbable, but God how I wish that 450 MB contains a rendered CG cutscene. I would kill for it. (Just a small inquiry, but I don't seem to be able to find the source for this file size?)
But I should just face the fact that I'm gonna end up paying for it anyways.

The file size is just something that has been going around on the internet, I actually don't know if it is true.
Square Enix will launch its latest download content for Final Fantasy XIII-2 on May 15, PlayStation Taiwan has revealed.
“Requiem of the Goddess,” the Lightning-centered content, will cost $228 Taiwanese dollars (approx. $7.76 USD). The White and Black Mage outfits for Serah and Noel will cost $114 Taiwainese dollars (approx. $3.88 USD) each. Mog’s 16 costume set will also cost $114 Taiwanese dollars.
“Arena of Eternity,” the Snow and Valfodr-centered content, was previously announced for May 15. The site reveals it will cost $152 Taiwanese dollars (approx. $5.17 USD).
So the costumes will cost the exact same as any other costumes, the Snow episode is priced like a high-rank Coliseum fight, and the Lightning Episode costs the same as Sazh's. With the exception of the Snow episode being just a little cheaper than I expected, I kinda figured it would turn out this way.
Approximately 1440MSP, which converts to $18.00US, for everything being released on the 15th. Probably won't be able to get it all though, personally, what with the roommate having bought a PS3 and Diablo III within the last two weeks. I plan to eventually though.
