Ubisoft won't even wait a full year to release the next Assassin's Creed, because the next one, Assassin's Creed III, will be out on October 13 30. The company announced that today during a call with investors, bumping the AC series up from its traditional November release.
Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot says the game will be "the biggest launch in Ubisoft history." He said the game has been in development for three years.
Details are scant about the new game, but Ubisoft has promised that it will star a new protagonist, giving Ezio de Auditore, hero of Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassin's Creed: Revelations a rest.
Good, so it has been in development through the endless milking of Ezio.
From what I've heard, they have four teams working on the Assassin's Creed series. Or at the very least, they had four teams on Revelations and maybe Brotherhood.
Dare I say it, they're very organised. QA dept is still weak as all hell.

Revelations is awesome, my favorite on the series.
The story was very interesting and touching, the gameplay was well balanced and due to the parachutes and the hookblade you really could move freely on Instambul. However i hated the assassin´s management, the tower defense mini-game and the fact you have to buy the shops before you can use them, in a nutshell i hate almost every meaningless gameplay mechanic they have been adding since Brotherhood, i hope ACIII gets rid of that.
The graphics are so beautiful and inspiring that make me wish every other game uses the same engine.
A big problem is that despite the game being called Revelations there are no revelations. The plot focus almost entirely on Desmond and Altair. There is almost nothing about Desmond and the end of the world. The ending ( in the real world subplot) was disappointing.
They even didn´t explain what really happened in Brotherhood´s ending.
There are rumors saying ACIII will star Desdmond in 2012, which means there´ll be no new ancestor. I´m not sure if i´m okay with that.
Don´t bother to finish Brotherhood Ethan. Just watch the ending on youtube, the ending is the only important thing in the story.

I'd say the the revelation was:
Spoiler:
The location of the "last" piece of Eden.
They also learned how Altaïer died and lived his remaining life, and such.
Or it could be one of the most generic sub-titles ever.
I was hoping it would be set in late-Tsarist/early-Soviet Russia, but seeing as how that's covered in the (brilliant) graphic novel 'The Fall', it doesn't seem likely. It'd be nice if we saw the protagonist from that novel in AC3 though; an assassin conditioned by the Templars who worked his way up to becoming successor to the Mentor in 2000AD, but then the brainwashing kicked in and he killed the Mentor, and having told the Templars of the locations of Assassin sanctuaries they were all raided too -- that's why the Assassin's order is in such a sorry state of affairs in the games, until then they were virtually as strong as the Templars.
Either way, I can't wait for the game. I didn't like some of the new elements introduced to Revelations, but it's still one of my favourite series.
Almost a year after Revelations? How unexpected. I really hope they nix the tired guild aspect which has weakened the series since Brotherhood. Revelations was beautiful, but a little all over the place and way too short. I hope III returns to the tighter focus of II and that it really has been in development this whole time. A game that looks like Revelations and plays like II and the best parts of Brotherhood would be incredible. Please set in France from 1789-the end of the Terror. All the New York stuff just seemed to be alluding to Desmond's future location (the temple) rather than that of his ancestor, but perhaps I'm deluding myself. No more Lucy also makes me sad. I just want to buy her a sloth.
