Yea, I'm too lazy to go into detail on this. Just go into google and search it yourself. I think its lame and dull. :/

I think that the whole idea of predicting days and years for stuff to happen in general is stupid.

Yeah, it's kinda weird.

The Mayans predicted it would happen. And so did Nostradamus.

Me, I don't think I'm a complete sceptic of that.. which is a bit scary because in terms of going to Heaven and going to Hell, Religion has taught me that if I fear dying, that means I've been pretty bad and I'll most likely go to Purgatory, if not a closer place to it.

Religion taught me I have free-agency and depending on my good works (or lack of them), this will determine how I will fare in the next life.

But Religion also taught me that everything is pre-destined (which then people start the argument about free-agency and if everything is already pre-destined then what is free-agency and blah blah blah).

So, I guess I have the free-agency to choose what I believe. And unfortunately I believe I will go to Purgatory, if not a closer place to it. I hope the world doesn't end that early.. although I don't like the thought of growing old either..

Oh man.. this whole thing's got me all upset *cries*

IMO, theres no way that anyone can find out the exact date of when the world will end. Regardless of what religion, how scientific you are, etc.

Only God knows when it will end, and only him.

Yeah, I really want to know how they come up with the dates and stuff though, do they just think up of a number or something?

On December 21, 2012 the world as we know it is going to come to an end. Whether it will be total Armageddon or a major social upheaval or if it will be perpetrated by an inescapable natural event or will be the result of our own doing, no one knows. Regardless of the details the prospect of the end of days begs one important question. How will this affect my credit?
LMFAO!

I personally think its a bunch of bull shizzle.

But if it 'does i dred to think how bad my credit would get.

It's kinda like Crapps..

If it happens during your lifetime, that's Crapps!

No seriously, I think the Mayans were a very ritualistic (and ingenious) people who believed in Magic (white and black) and who had (I guess they can be likened to) Soothsayers, who believed they were gifted with being able to see into the future.

They predicted their own demise (their colonisation by the Spanish), and also the end of the world.

Similar story in the case of Nostradamus. He was a great philosopher who also believed he could see the future and wrote all this down, but in kinda like a "code-only-he-can-crack-but-the-rest-of-us-can't-really" way that, even today's most learned devotees to his texts, still can't quite put in a format we or themselves can really understand clearly.

But I guess numbers (Numerology) and also the stars (Astrology) played a part as well.

The only thing that's a bit weird about this is that both the Egyptians and the Mayans came up with the same date despite never being in contact.

I don't think it's true. I mean people come up with all kinds of prophecies(sp?) and do they come true? No. At least not that I can think of. I mean I remember hearing stories about how people thought the world was going to come to an end in the year 2000. People even wrote songs about it! And look the world is still here.

I remember the whole 6.6.6 thing, was all a major advertising plug for the fact THE OMEN was being released that day! Personally I thought it was ingenious, but to say the world will end is just going to cause a little bit of panic and make everyone skeptical ( duno if thats spelt right) about any warnings we may receive from an actual source regarding the end of the world, so to speak. I think that as long as my death can be made into a decent movie in the next life and i go to heaven then its all cool with me haha

Yeah, we're obviously gonna die in 6 years just because 5000 year old magic and monster believing cultures said so. Bull. I think we deserve to be warned if the sun flips upside-down, our solar system aligns with the centre of the galaxy, and the Earth is destroyed by a massive solar flare.

What's the point of a warning if no-one's listening

Overpopulation.. no-one's listening
Global warming.. no-one's listening
Overfishing of our oceans.. no-one's listening
Deforestation of our forests.. no-one's listening

End of the world.. well, you get the idea. or maybe you weren't listening

I've also heard rumors of when the sun is going to go out. I don't know when exactly, the rumors are saying, but I've heard it might be soon.

BS.

The sun won't go out for at least a few billion more years. We're killing the Earth, not the sun.

The sun exploding is more ridiculous than the evolution theory IMO.

If the sun was going to die in a couple of years, wouldn't this have been predicted 100 thousands of years ago ?

1. It's not a couple of years as said by Domino.
2. 100,000 years ago we were still in caves (or not at all if you agree with the timing in Genesis) and wouldn't really be focusing on the time it would take for the sun to burn through its fuel stores.
3. It's not ridiculous, it's scientific fact.
