Halfway through FFC, it's pretty good. It seems like the structure for the books is a whole bunch of world-shaking events will happen in one (A Game of Thrones, A Storm of Swords) and then the aftermath of those events will be explored in the next (A Clash of Kings, A Feast for Crows.)
Action, reaction. Unless the pattern changes with ADWD.
I'm so sad that I only just got into this series, considering I've had HBO for the past two years and only used it to waste my time watching True Blood. I could literally go on and on about it. The first season became such a breeze, finished it in a couple of days, and immediately bought the first book and am about halfway through the second season.
There's yet to be a character that I just outright despised (other than the beloved King Joffrey), they all seem to be very real and the show itself seems very real. I'm mostly interested in Arya's story, learning more about the Queen Bitch Cersei (Lannisters in general, actually), and hoping for Daenerys and her dragons to rule all.
When Aemon died... wow. His sudden conviction that Daenarys was the promised child and depressed realisation that he's too old to make it to her; one of the things I'd been looking forward to the most was seeing Daenarys reunite with her great-grandfather upon coming to Westeros. Now it won't happen.
The only one I'm iffy about is Thoros. I thought he would be more...exotic.
I think Thoros was originally supposed to be portrayed by a more exotic looking actor. Asim Ahmad to be exact. But I remember reading that scheduling conflicts forced him to take a smaller role. So yeah. The only one I'm iffy with is Edmure. I mean he'll probably do a good job. But I just do not like looking at him. And he should be hot tbh. IT'S CANON.
